Project Summary
Context: from the school context of primary education, the project has made possible to influence the educational quality of each center, through the transfers that have been made between the partners and by implementing community activities that favored school and social aspects, related to education, educational community and with the municipality and that, in our center, without this kind of activities would not be possible due to socio-economic situation and cultural level of our students.
Goals:
A) Promote the acquisition of skills and competences: the students have improved considerably in linguistic and foreign language skills, as well as artistic and emotional education. A different perception of the concept of European citizenship and respect, also and interest towards artistic and cultural manifestations of other origins is observed. The teaching staff has improved the implementation of activities that develop skills in the students, through the activities carried out, the jobshadowing and the exchange of teaching practices that has been taking part with the other teachers from the partner countries / schools.
B) Social inclusion: the most relevant aspect has been the participation of students in cultural activities with their classmates (from the center and from partner countries) that they had not access personally; artistic activities: visits to museums, concerts, exhibitions, graffiti painting, arts and crafts for the dissemination of the project, etc. Another of the inclusion indicators has been the participation in LTT of students in risk of social exclusion due to socio-cultural and / or economic reasons.
C) Open and innovative practices in the digital age: eTwinning, zoom, video calls, videos on Facebook, online voting … many activities of this project have been carried out online (especially the last year due to the SARS COVID19 pandemic ) improving the digital competence of students and teachers and bringing and improving the use and knowledge of ICT.
Participants: all the teachers and students of all the centers of the association have participated, since each of the activities developed has been adapted to the ages of the students, which ranged from 3 to 15 years. The 5th / 6th grade students (10-12 years old) benefited especially, as the association decided that they would be the ones who would travel to the LTT. In the case of our center, the smallest next to the Finnish one, the total of participants has been about 220 students, 18 members of the teacher’s staff and the educational community. In the case of the Italian school, the biggest, we are talking about almost 2,000 students.
Description of activities: all the activities that were proposed in the schedule have been developed and adapted to be able to carry them out with guarantees of success in all schools. Obviously, they were all related to artistic education in all its aspects and how to link it to the knowledge of the rest of our partners: sharing and showing painters, musicians, traditions, dances, festivals, folk, legends, sculptures, popular songs, etc. In the same way, artistic expression through theater, literature, music … has been used with students with diverse backgrounds could carry out joint activities without any kind of difficulty. Among the most outstanding and unforeseen activities, the creation of the teachers’ choir and the organization, in each LTT or TPM, of an act with the educational community to show the evolution of the project.
Results: all the partners are very satisfied with the results. Although we deeply regret not having been able to expand our project in time due to the COVID situation, since the activities of the second and third quarters of 2020 have not been carried out, including the scheduled meetings of LTT and TPM (although one could finally take place, not all partners could attend due to the closure of borders and / or limitations of each country). All the activities are exposed at https://twinspace.etwinning.net/49834/home, and our project has quality labels and has even participated in European, national / provincial erasmus conferences and others not foreseen such as CODING WEEK …
Impact / Benefits: until March 2020, all partners were working on developing instruments to measure impact. The situation with COVID has made it very difficult to reach conclusions on a large scale, and most of us have limited information on the impact to our school / school community. We are convinced that participation in the program has been a before and after in the life of the center and we emphasize the need to know and learn to improve educational quality.
