Project Summary
An exchange project boosting the production of stop motion videos is established between one French and one Italian secondaryschool. The interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary habits of the two teaching staffs would be reinforced by the pursuit of objectives such as preventing early school leaving, the enhancement of the school environment, the expansion of environmental awarness at a local, national and european level, the reingorcement of the spirit of co-operation, the improvement of learners’ skills (especially the ones linked to the Socle Commun de connaissances, “common core of knowledge”, and the linguistic ones).
The French institution involves 14 secondary school students spread over the three levels of the 4th cycle (between 12 and 15 years of age and attending the following classes: 5ème, 4ème, 3ème). The Italian institution involves 14 secondary school students (between 11 and 13 years of age and attending the following classes: Prima, Seconda, Terza).
The pupils involved facing learning disabilities and having difficulies to adapt to educational requirements as well as pupils with abilities to discover, to learn and to enjoy implementing pedagogical projets. Though the production of stop motion short videos, pupils will have to work in a team during the entire implementation process of a short mouvie: the writing of the screenplay and the story-board, the staging, the shooting, the creation of soundtracks, the film editing and broadcasting as well as the communication around thier short mouvies . Stop motion is ananimation techinc that physically manipulates an entity se that il looks as if it movez on its owen. the object is moved in minor increments between individually photographed frames. this producese an illusion of movement when the succession of frames are played as a fast sequence.
A further objective is the launch of a Franco-Italian short movies festival which would democratize (popularize) the stop motion technique as a pedagogical artisti purpose among pupils ans educational intitutions.
The expected effect of this project lies on exceeding the transversal disciplinary or linguistic objectives. the central method is based on collaborative work. In that framework, cooperation and peer exchange is fundamental.
