Project Summary

From the classrooms to the real world is a project aiming to share good examples and practises related to teaching-learning process by means of showing the real life usage and function of theoretical information taught in several lessons. The partners will basicly prepare activities, workshops and practises related to topics their students are good at. We mainly aim to give our students opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-life settings and truly experience life in all of its forms. We want to contribute to our students’ individual development process by involving them into activities in which they can be more progressive, curious, ambitious, driven and vibrant, they can get to pursue knowledge and wisdom beyond their own fields, they can develop their leadership potential and therefore, they can become better equipped to make positive impact on their school, their communities, and themselves. The project will be held between September, 2018 and August, 2020 with 6 partner schools which give education to teenagers from 6 different countries. 60 teachers and 110 students will join short term pupil exchanges. At the end of the project, more than 2000 students and teachers will benefit from the project.

Upskilling through sharing knowledge and skills is our motto in this project. All participants will have many chances to broaden their knowledge, talents and abilities. Our project promotes young people to become friends from different countries, to become social and global citizens, to become tolerant people, and active citizens. The project will reinforce them for learning the cultural affairs. Joining project activities will support youngsters’ self-esteem and self-confidence. We will be working on different topics related to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Foreign Language, Geography, PE, First Aid, Music, etc. which schools have already chosen according to their students competences and talents. So our approach is many sided. We intend to engage the curiosity and interest of our students with the support of various activities which encompass very different skills so that all youngsters will be enthused and motivated from the most academic to the less academic. That is why the planned activities cover a wide range of skills. The topics chosen by each partner are:

Poland : Sharing knowledge on ecology matters, anti–smog campaign, participating in oxford debates and parttaking in first aid course,
Turkey : Using Physics, Biology and Foreign Language skills outside the classroom and acquiring their real life functions
Italy : Adopting collaborative and innovative practices into real life situations
Portugal : LBS (Life Basic Support) – learn and practice and EFT – (Self help techniques) – learn and practice
Estonia : Survival workshop in the wildlife and Orienteering in the forest using Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and PE knowledge
Slovakia : Having a healthier lifestyle using PE and Biology knowledge

The students will answer a questionnaire at the beginning and end of each year of the project. The questionnaires will attempt to evaluate to what extent and in what way their thoughts and attitudes have been affected or changed about different cultures in general terms. The participants will also be applied questionnaires at the beginning and end of every student exchange about the project activities in order to analyze the present knowledge and expectations and impacts of the activities. The results obtained through the questionnaires will be shared with partners, on the websites of partner schools and the webpage designed for the project.

The teachers will be able to develop their professional skills, improve foreign languages, use new ICT tools, experience innovation by sharing best practices and learn about different school systems. All schools will be working together as a team towards a common goal. By getting to know each other through regular communication, pupil exchanges and sharing ideas and end products, we will remove some of the cultural barriers such as prejudice and stereotypes of other nations and create active European citizens. Students and staff will be more inclined to get involved in exchanges, trips and other shared activities. Staff will benefit from having the opportunity to compare practice and reflect on their own practice. We will provide several ‘real audiences and voices’ for our pupils via seminars, workshops and debates. If pupils can see a purpose to their work they are more likely to take ownership and pride in the outcomes. Cooperation between schools makes the learning of languages real and relevant.

Some of the products we will produce during and at the end of the project will be a magazine, a website, a Facebook group, project corners, Erasmus+ streets, posters, power-point presentations, workshops, booklets, videos of project activities and project exhibitions. The tasks and responsibilities will be distributed throughout the project in a fair way .
