Project Summary

LARP: The development of real skills in imagined worlds
Project’s wider goal is creating a LARP community between Lithuania and Estonia, popularizing LARP as a whole, raising the quality of youth work, using non-formal methods and acknowledging LARP as a method for young people to develope reallife skills.

Directed audience/participants: Young people between the ages of 13 to 30 from Lithuania and Estonia, with previous experiences and interests with LARP and without it. New participants will be brought into the action with ongoing activities. Main areas of the activities are held in Narva and Ida-Virumaa in Estonia and Vilnius, Visaginas, Kaunas and Klaipeda, in Lithuania. Alltogether aproximately 200 participants.

The Projects main goal: Developing reallife skills with using LARP (Live Action Role Play)

Activities done whilst the program:
1) Work shops Youth to youth. Target is to popularize LARP and its effects on youth, cause LARP – it is a effective way to improve everyday skills.
2) Analysing the situation of LARP in Estonia and Lithuania.
3) Creating a network for different LARP clubs.
4) Introducing LARP in the youthwork area as a great alternative way to educate the youth.

Description of the acitvities: Methods that will be used in the project:
Peer to peer studygroups, non-formal learning methods, various workshops, sharing experiences and reflecting it openly. All the methods will be used per the youthworker principals.

The expected results and efects:

1. We have created a community network between both Lithuanian and Estonian players for exchanging info and knowledge, partnerships for game developements and future projects.
2. Popularising LARP as a non-formal study method in Estonia and Lithuania, informing the wider public of its benefits.
3. Thanks to the project local youth are developed competents.
4. We will have created a four language LARP dictionary for the Baltic area.

Benefits of this project in a longer perspective:
Thanks to participating in the LARP games and activities the attenders gained and further developed their everyday knowledge and skills – the have learned to speak foreign and local languages better, raised IT-proficiency, gained better social skills, math and cultural knowledge. Youths are active citizens and they are interested in cooperation and they are tolerant and positive with communicating and relating to people of other cultural backgrounds because they have a positive experience from the project. They will tell others about their experience and participation of the project and that is how the projects wave-efect will be established.
