Project Summary

In the increased global competitive world students need to show improved skills to potential
employers. In a global world students are required to have linguistic skills that will match employment
market needs. Both Regions ( London , UK & Tenerife , Spain) sadly boast a high rate of
unemployment rate due to a lack of skills. This is particular acute with disadvantaged parts of the
population. Both schools in their respective locations face the challenge of offering school leavers not
only a first class education but also opportunities so that they are at an advantage on the job market.
Strong heritages sites are a feature of both regions and it is part of both schools curricula. Students
lack the opportunity to travel and get work placements abroad in what is a promising area for youth
employment.
The aim of the project is to create opportunities through meetings with local decision takers in the
Heritage industry to develop placement opportunities and improve linguistic competences applied to
the cultural understanding context. This will allow students in the current cohort and also future
cohorts -since the objective is to widen the number of heritage decision takers ad partner schools – to
practice youth training across countries and to close better links between business and the school
community. From linguistic workshop with a business language focus to field surveys and the
improved use of IT to research information students will be able to develop entrepreneurial mind set
skills as they will have to show the Unique Selling Proposition of the project and how can both
heritage business and students can benefit from the project.
The outcome will be tangible as it will result in the design of an information brochure supporting
young graduates to gain work experience in London / Tenerife in Heritage sites.
Dissemination will be of utmost importance as via the eTwinning platform we are aiming at emulating
similar projects in Europe sharing best practice, knowledge and experience form the participants in
this project.
