Project Summary

The project is aimed at creating an educational product – book-game “Ant, the Traveller’s Journey”This playful approach aims to help children learn about the cultural, traditional and ethnic characteristics of different peoples. The game’s main character, the Ant is a tourist who goes crawling up different trees, symbolizing the different countries – partners in the project. The beginning of the journey starts from the roots of each tree. Moving on from there, the Ant will get acquainted with the origin and past of the individual countries. The information that young people will receive will be with the help of the application of different methodological approaches such as narrative discourse. At the end of his stay in the tree roots the Ant will complete the “first level” by answering questions related to the subject matter. In such circumstances, the diagnostic approach is aimed to obtain feedback on the received knowledge. The Ant passes on to the second level by climbing up the TREE trunk. Crawling up the Ant meets the traditions and customs of every partner country. We will be taking into account the visual thinking of the children involved in the project, as visualization is a very important approach. At the end of the tree trunk the Ant again will have to pass a test – a quiz to complete the “second level”.Reaching the crown of the tree, he will already have learnt about present-day holidays and customs, as well as the peculiarities in the life of the nation. The third level will end with a summary questionnaire in order to check the acquired knowledge. The top of the tree symbolizes the overall knowledge of children about each country. After climbing every tree the Ant will receive a flag (the flag of the country – partner). The goal is to collect all the flags – symbolizing the acquired knowledge. The game will be enriched with new “trees of knowledge” of the other countries that are not partners. The basic idea is that children will receive multicultural knowledge in early childhood. Knowing the diversity of the world around them the child will grow to become a tolerant, creative and motivated person, enjoying and understanding the values of a European citizen.Participants in the project are partners from six countries, different ethnicity, religion and culture. This will greatly contribute to achieving the project’s objectives.
