Project Summary
The project “Glomma and Kinzig – language skills, digitalisation, art and natural science” is a school partnership project between the schools Heinrich-HansJakob-Bildungszentrum in Germany and Grue Barne- og ungdomsskole in Norway. This project is a cross-curricular project combining the subjects of foreign language acquisition, English, art and crafts, history and social studies and natural science. The aim of the project is to motivate the acquisition of foreign languages in English and German and to broaden the social perspective of the pupils towards other cultures through internationalisation. Included in this objective are two leading projects in the subjects natural sciences, programming and art. In the natural sciences, a series of experiments is to be developed in English that can be flexibly adapted to the annual plans of the participating schools. This series of experiments will be based on local and given factors in both partner schools. Furthermore, a programming platform for the promotion of language learning will be established. Here too, it is possible to bring in scientific and, of course, socially and culturally typical elements. In addition to these projects, it is also the aim to include the arts and to create an artistic project here with the typical cultural and social factors. All three projects should have a smooth transition into each other.
The project “Glomma and Kinzig – language skills, digitalisation, art and natural science” will last 22 months. During the first 10 months a digital exchange will take place. Here the participants should get to know each other and the projects should be started. From January 2021 the physical visits will be prepared for each other. In June 2021 the participants from Germany will visit the Grue Barne- og ungdomsskole and in January 2022 the Norwegians will visit the Heinrich-HansJakob-Bildungszentrum in Haslach. During these two visits the projects will be completed as far as possible and presented to the rest of the student and teacher body, and of course to the community and parents.
In the long run it is planned that this project is only the beginning of a long lasting partnership between Grue Barne- og ungdomsskole and Heinrich- HansJakob-Bildungszentrum in Haslach. The aim is to establish an intensive partnership, which will then be an integral part of the annual curricula of both schools. It is also the wish to develop a partnership between both communities.
