Project Summary
In the last social activity of the organization participating in the project from Poland, Czech Republic, Slowakia and Germany was reconized that citizens without school diplomas, people with a lack of social participation unemployed, migrants, socially disadvantaged and insecure fellow citizens are not interested or hardly interested in the common Europe and can not be motivated, or hardly, for a commitment to Europe. The basic attitude is usually negative.
A survey conducted in the run-up to the 2014 European elections by all the organizations involved in this context confirmed these basic experiences and the low level of knowledge of respondents about the EU, its institutions and policies.
These facts were the starting point for the project under the motto “Home in Europe – intersect, motivate, activate”.
The experience of the participating organizations, as well as the joint survey, were the basis for the objectives of the project for the targeted target groups:
more awareness of the common home “Europe”
Promoting active citizenship through adequate educational opportunities for the
project target groups
Promoting the formation of opinions on current European topics: discuss and
in partner organizations, etc.
to encourage Union citizens to be more committed
Acquire social competences and citizens’ competences in the key competences of
the EU (competences framework).
Four organizations participated in the project. It links the commitment to people who live in our society under complicated social conditions, are threatened or affected by social exclusion and poverty and can not solve their problems, or only partially, independently. The implementation is different.
GefAS e.V. organizes e.g. integration projects and offers social services such as furniture and clothing chambers and panels.
SMMG (PL) initiates e.g. long-term unemployed and work-therapy measures for disadvantaged and disabled persons in a therapy center.
D.R.A.K. z.s. (CZ) provides e.g. social-assisted services for families and children, for the elderly and the disabled, and operates two sheltered workshops for persons with a moderate to severe physical disability.
NÁŠ TURIEC e.g. encourages and develops interpersonal relationships based on the christian faith and the loves of the traditional family.
In the course of the project, 6 transnational project meetings were held. The project meeting was attended by the Coordination and Steering Group (Working Group) set up at the first meeting. This working group consisted of 3 members of the organizations participating in the project.
The purpose of these project meetings were organizational arrangements, task and budget control, quality control and exchange with the learning modules. The meetings contributed to the fact that the learning blocks were developed in good quality up to the end of the project. Problems could be treated.
On 3 short-term trainings, at least 6 educational trainers were trained from each participating country. These will act as multipliers and / or contact persons themselves the results of the project – whether as consultants for other users or as a referent to the target group. Many national activities contributed to the success of the project. All partners conducted tests on already completed learning modules with the target group. The evaluations were used in the further development of the learning modules.
Twelve learning modules were developed by the participating partner organizations, which are available in conjunction with a method collection for a seminar concept. Methodological-didactic materials for the formation of adults in the low-threshold range were prepared in an easily understandable language. Each learning module has a duration of 3.5 hours each. The learning blocks can be used independently of each other. Depending on the length of the course (evening seminar, day seminar, weekend seminar, etc.) different learning modules can be combined.
The following learning modules are available:
1. Can Europe be my home?
2. So many countries and states under one hat!
3. Europe has a long history
4. European institutions and their tasks
5. Working in Europe – the world of work and the labor market
6. All different – all equal / diversity in Europe
7. Arm and empire in Europe
8. What is right in Europe
9. EURO – the European money
10. Cultural Diversity in European Exchange
11. Europe in the future – a vision
12. Migration to and from Europe
The project web with the created materials remains available and is still being updated. The learning modules can be used at any time by multipliers.
Two partner organizations D.R.A.K. and GefAS have developed a new “Erasmus project” based on the findings and experiences gained and have been able to win a new partner from Greece. The focus was on the most recent socio-political events in the EU.
