Project Summary

Health is a subject that allows to explore many different topics and areas of knowledge. In this strategic partnership we – differently focused people, living in six European countries – explored several scientific issues (exploring civilization diseases, working with statistics in the partner countries and their comparing, reducing the risks of civilization diseases, researching our personal/ regional/ national habits, exploring geographical aspects, historical events and peculiarities of the partner regions, sustainable development in different regions/countries), practiced first aid, promoted healthy lifestyle and sports, but we are identified the common cultural ground of the partner countries/communities by exploring each one’s society, lifestyle, healthcare, sports, language features, economical aspects etc., trying to relate the uniqueness of each region with the actual eco-ethno-cultural diversity of the world. The analysis and comparison of the relationship between the local environment and health in the participating countries was the way for students to develop their knowledge and skills by applying the principles of “learning by teaching”, “life long learning” and “self esteem development”. The final goal was to increase the students’ responsibility for their health, their personal future as well as their participation in promoting and developing healthy lifestyle in their community. Effective cooperating among the participants from different countries was possible with the use of a common language (English) in which we were able to share values, exchange good practices and communicate in everyday situations. We also reinforced a sense of belonging to the European society, strenghtened an active European citizenship as much as developed the students’ skills and increased their chance to succeed in the labor market.

Our project team consisted of 6 partner schools from 6 countries:
• Gymnázium Uherské Hradiště (Uherské Hradiště, Czech Republic)
• Escola Básica e Secundária de São Roque do Pico (São Roque do Pico, Portugal)
• VSZC Selye János Egészségügyi és Szociális Szakképző Iskolája (Vác, Hungary)
• Saku Gümnaasium (Saku, Estonia)
• Tehnicka skola Nikole Tesle (Vukovar, Croatia)
• 164 Gimnazia s prepodavane na ispanski ezik “Miguel de Cervantes” (Sofia, Bulgaria)

All the partner schools are public schools. 3 partner institutions (in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Bulgaria) are general public secondary schools. The Hungarian school is a vocational health care school. The Croatian school is a vocational technical school, educating students of two different ethnic groups (that’s why the lessons are taught in Croatian and Serbian). The Portuguese partner school is a general public school, serving education from kindergarden to secondary school. Even more, the Portuguese school is an overseas partner, so we all could gain experience, how difficult are a cooperation and mobilities for them.

The project was divided into 3 phases:
• HEALTHCARE IN THE PAST (2015 – 2016)
• CONTEMPORARY HEALTH (2016 – 2017)
• HEALTH PROMOTION (2017 – 2018)

In this strategic partnership we assumed:
• 201 direct participants actively working on the project and participating in mobilities (59 teachers’ mobilities and 142 students’ mobilities)
• 61 direct participants, actively working on the project without participating in mobilities

Comparing with the application we were able to support more direct participants, realize more mobilities and increase number of persons participating on mobilities for the calculated grant. In total we had in our project:
• 242 direct participants actively working on the project and participating in mobilities (41 more than applied)
• 75 teachers’ mobilities (16 more than applied)
• 167 students’ mobilities (25 more than applied)

During the project period we realized and completed all the activities, created all the results, products and outcomes (P1 – P32), achieved our main objectives and targets, planned in the project application. We organized 7 meetings (6 planned common project meetings + 1 extra teachers’ meeting, finishing the project) and 2 short-term student exchanges (Czech Republic – Portugal). The meetings included Learning/Teaching/Training Activities for participating students, creating and presentations of the outcomes and results, common discussions, project teachers’ meetings, visiting places related with the project theme, planning, evaluating and promoting the project and the Erasmus+ programme in media.
Through the project we were able to support and promote the teachers’ competency based education, to use ICT, to achieve pedagogical and methodological developement and to gain new experiences with innovative methods on European level. For the students we enabled them to experience team work on the European level, to practise communication in foreign languages, to develop their skills for success in a labour market and to motivate them for a longlife education.
