Project Summary

Six primary schools participated in our joint international school partnership. They came from Italy, Finland, Great Britain, Poland, Cyprus and Germany. Our partnership included experienced colleagues and new colleagues. Together we had many strengths and were very interested in learning from each other.
Through our project theme, we promoted and researched the sporting pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, including nutrition with reference to different cultures and values. During our project, we exchanged information about sport and healthy life in each country, tried it out and evaluated it. All our activities were planned as extensively as possible. Teachers, pupils, parents and families as well as other cooperation partners cooperated. There were a variety of exciting and motivating activities.
The students of all partner schools produce fact files, a logo, an anthem, art work, sporting Christmas calendars, videos, PowerPoint presentations, e-mails, a blog, websites including eTwinning, etc., which were regularly exchanged and shared.
During our project there were 3 jointly planned sports competitions, learning and teaching workshops, video conferences, project days, class trips and presentations at the schools.
The three sporting activities, such as the “Run for health”, “Who is the fittest” and the sports advent calendar have become traditions in schools and are still being carried out.
The students of each school learned traditional / cultural games from their families and prepared them so that they were tried and continued to play in all schools. Through these activities, we contributed to deepening and deepening the cultural understanding of similarities and differences within Europe.
We have developed knowledge, understanding and respect for cultural diversity, with a view to the diverse eating habits, the different attitudes towards health, sport, environment and self-confidence in each country.
Our project encouraged the learning of modern foreign languages, ICT skills and basic life competences like Reading competencies. Our students were given the opportunity to develop into active European citizens. In our project meetings organized by Italy, Finland, Great Britain and Cyprus, we visited the different partner countries, their home countries and learned about the different school systems. We visited places and institutions that helped us to learn more about a healthy lifestyle and thus which supported our work. During our meetings, we exchanged ideas, planned and evaluated all our activities. We also used the opportunity to introduce our schools and home institutions to the pupils while the schools visits. Small workshops were also held in addition to visits in classes.
Through the teaching and learning activities we succeeded in deepening the knowledge about a healthy way of life. The learning activities made it possible for the Polish and German pupils to prepare first-hand experiences during the planned workshops in Germany and Poland. These students visited sports facilities, danced, played sports games, took part in sports lessons, cooked together healthy meals and learned about the life in their host families.
They visited the “Route of Fame” for Olympic medalists, the sports center in Cottbus, the football stadium in Wroclaw and the sports center in Strzegom, where they tried various sports such as trampoliner jumping and archery. Projecthighlight were the teaching activities at which the teachers of our partnerships met and collaborated. They conducted workshops with pupils in the guest schools, shared pedagogical methods and thus learned from each other.
With our regularly updated project home page, we were able to inform all interested people about our work and results.
However, the change of the coordinating teacher at the Scottish school caused difficulties in publishing their results, as the previous coordinator did not pass the access codes. Our help offers that it charges another school, were not noticed in spite of multiple requests.
We regularly carried out evaluations on pupils, teachers and parents regarding the project.
We believe that we have succeeded in making the students aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle as well as to think about their own lifestyle and thus have made small-scale positive changes in their way of life.
