Project Summary

A report of European Commission states that a hierarchy exists within the school curriculums, whereby reading, writing and numeracy are priotised. Although all national policy statements on education routinely emphasize the importance of the cultural dimension and the need to promote the artistic and creative abilities of young people, in practice, the status and provision of fine arts education is less prominent. According to researches, fine arts instruction, when taken at the heart of school education, helps forming a positive school environment, increase motivation and can also develop cognitive and social skills. By focusing specially on disadvantaged students in terms of socioeconomic disfavoured background, disabilities, minority groups, etc., this project aims to use arts integrated curriculum and activities for all students at partner institutions as a way to follow these objectives:
Objectives:
– fitting out European teachers with new perspectives on “Arts Integrated Curriculum” to involve students at all school levels in creating arts in different genres and branches;
– by the help of arts education promoting creativity, developing students’ cognitive and social skills;
– reducing student disciplinary problems, increasing student success, cultural knowledge, creation of original works.
Target Group:
The project and all of the activities affect both students and staff in all partner schools. Taking into consideration the number of students&parents at partner schools, we estimate that nearly 7500 will benefit indirectly from or will be target of the activities organized by the project, such as teachers and students from all partner schools not participating in the short exchanges, parents, specialized personnel and members of other educative organizations, public authorities we collaborate with, other stakeholders, etc.
Main activities:
– Training activity on “Arts Integrated Curriculum”;
– Logo and story-writing competitions;
– Story-writing(literature), music, art, drama workshops in which arts education promoting creativity will take place. Students will create original works of art;
– additionally in literature workshops, the winner story will be transformed into a novella and a drama text;
– in art workshops, students will illustrate the novella;
– in music workshops, students will compose pieces of music for the end-of-project drama performance;
– in drama workshops, students will work for end-of-project drama performance of the written drama text of literature workshop students;
– joint staff and student mobilities for art, music, drama, literature workshops;
– monthly day-trips to fine arts museums, exhibitions, artistic performances, etc.;
– Trans-national on line training of students on the European fine arts using the project website in an active and interactive way with monthly documentary updates about partners’ fine arts historical figures and their works.
Results and Impact:
Students will create art across a diverse spectrum of artistic disciplines throughout the project. They will experience art. Our project will engage the students directly with the arts, providing them with new opportunities to have profound and meaningful arts experiences. By focusing on the acquisition of knowledge or skills and creation process in the arts, this project will build public capacity for lifelong participation in the arts. It is our aim to show that students of all ages can acquire knowledge or skills in the arts. With the completion of the project there will be Tangible and Intangible products and outcomes. As tangible products, we can name an original story, an original novella with original illustrations, an original drama text for an end-of-project performance, a modern exhibition with the products created during the project and joint workshops, podcasts, digital audio files of the works created, a summary work of the training “Arts Integrated Curriculum”, a project website, a Facebook page, a book of reports on “General Structure of the Arts Integrated Curriculum in Partner Countries and Good Examples”.
