Project Summary

The project consists of a school exchange between the French school of Givet (in the Ardennes) and the Spanish high school of Priego (in Castile).
Targeted audience :
In France: 15 students of Première. Selection criterion: students who have chosen the Spanish LLCE specialty course.
In Spain: 13 students. Selection criteria: students who have chosen to take the optional French course.
We made the following shared diagnosis: two high schools with similar characteristics: isolation, distance from large urban centers, rurality, experiencing economic and social difficulties, young unambitious in the construction of their future project.
The mobility constraint is very poorly lived and that often results in a refusal to leave the territory whereas there is no local offer of post-bac training. Mobility is a training imperative that must be learned early.
We pursue objectives of development of linguistic skills in French and Spanish in the context of non-fictional communication situation, improvement of the knowledge of its environment and its heritage, acting on the image of the school and on its representations in showing its dynamism and ambitiousness for young people, developing mobility among young people by creating the conditions for moving abroad without endangering oneself, enriching oneself culturally and contributing to the development of a European citizenship.
Our desire is to unite the educational community around an exciting project, to create bonds and trust and to contribute, with the local elected representatives, to the revitalization of the territory in terms of image and exchanges.
From an organizational point of view, the project will begin with a virtual exchange via the Etwinning platform to start collaborating and getting to know each other. It will continue in two phases: the trip of French students to Spain in March 2020 and the reception of Spanish students in France in May 2020.
In practice, these two exchanges will result in joint activities: communicating to present oneself, to discover one’s institution, one’s region, to prepare for the trip and to share educational activities such as reading a book together. classical literature (in this case Don Quixote from La Mancha de Cervantes). But also we plan joint visits of the local historical and cultural heritage, as well as integration into courses of non-linguistic disciplines such as the history-geography course.
For transport and accommodation, French students will travel to Priego by bus (local company) and will keep on the spot this means of transport which will also bring them back to France.
Spanish students will make the return trip to France by plane. They will ensure their trips on the spot by bus.
In all cases, accommodation will be in host families.
The dissemination and extensions envisaged will consist of making use of existing and sometimes underutilized communication tools (television in the reception area, website, municipal light panels), integration of the language exchange in the training program into language, as well as a twinning between the two cities
Key features for Vauban High School: this is our first Erasmus + project, it is also the first time that we use the Etwinning platform for videoconferencing and to upload productions.
The related consequences for the project are an increase in teachers’ skills in the use of Etwinning, an increased motivation to embark on projects of European openness, an increase in the number of students in linguistic disciplines, an institution clearly identified as being open on Europe (At the same time, it contributes to obtaining the European label).
The evaluation of the project will be based on the following indicators: the actual presentation of the students’ productions via Etwinning, the volunteering of the students to share their experience during the information / immersion days, the increase in the number of students in the linguistic disciplines, the more ambitious post-bac orientation choices with mobility requirements.
