Project Summary

Through this project, we would like to pass on to our students the desire to learn about other cultures and the need to be part of such a diverse group. The main objectives of this project are to increase the knowledge and understanding of the community of each partner school on the difference of each culture and the importance of it through the implementation of various educational activities. Furthermore, we will teach our students about diversity in all aspects of life through experiential activities such as traditional games, dances, food, costumes and customs. Moreover, we would like to integrate school communities through cooperation in an international project and to increase the need to know people from other countries thus, preventing exclusion.
Four schools take part in this project from the following countries: Cyprus (coordinating school), Romania, Malta and Poland. All school have students with special needs. We have planned 6 mobilities, four will be short term pupil mobilities and two short term teacher training mobilities. In each mobility there will be four pupils and four accompanying persons (teachers and assistants). Each school, will have the responsibility to choose which students or teachers will participate in the mobilities.

The activities that will take place throughout the project are a Logo Competition that will take place in order to determine the partnership’s logo. Two newspapers will be created in the end of each year with activities that took place thus far. In the duration of the two year project, there will be two video conferences, one in each year. A feedback form will be created by the coordinating school that will be used in the end of each mobility and a Recipe book with traditional recipes from each partner school. After each mobility, each host school will be responsible for creating a power point presentation about the mobility and creating a photo book. Also, a banner will be created from each partner school. Last, the coordinating school will be responsible for completing the final report.
The project activities during the mobilities will be a fashion show with traditional costumes, a cooking competition and presentation of traditional games and dances. Furthermore, the Motor Activity Training Program (M.A.T.P.) will be presented to participants. All activities will take place in the presence of local schools, local community, radio station or TV channel. By the completion of the project we would like to have produced a Project Website, a Google Drive Account and a Facebook page.

The methodology that will be used in the activities carried out during this project are:
– Analysis of the initial situation: All partner countries have analysed the initial needs and as a result of discussions and arrangements they have specified the area of project activities. The main objectives of the project have been established. The results of project activities have been determined (tangible and non-tangible). All activities and methods were decided by each partner schools and were evenly distributed. It was determined how these activities will be carried out (instructional meetings, activity demonstrations, competitions, exhibitions, running a project website, demonstration lessons, working meetings during mobility); in each partner country, project teams are created, made up of persons directly responsible for the implementation of individual tasks, budget control, monitoring of the project’s progress and dissemination of its results.

Each partner school will apply the new knowledge to their school, home and wider community. The results will be published to the wider community, thus making European projects more attractive, resulting in an increased involvement in European projects. During each hosted visit, participating schools will involve local news media in promoting this project and European partnerships. These activities will raise the local community’s awareness for creating future partnerships. The project will increase cultural awareness of disabled students, thus increasing the local communities’ awareness for the needs and capabilities of disabled students.
The wider community will be more sensitive to new cultures and values. They will be able to distinguish between different countries traditional food, dances and various other activities to express issues of cultural diversity. This project teaches participants and readers to be more flexible in teaching children with disabilities and embrace the differences in student’s characteristics. The project also, develops international collaboration and supports the feeling for global European community.
The activities will be translated by each partner school, in their na
