Project Summary

As intangible cultural heritage, old games have an indisputable social and educational value. With the project, we stimulated students’ interest in exploring and learning about the cultural heritage, motivated them to play and spend quality free time. The games they have learned can also offer them a starting point for socializing with peers and develop social competencies.
Pupils from four partner schools (Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) aged 7 to 15 took part in the project of rediscovering old games and using them in their free time at school. That’s about 1000 students, teachers and the wider environment (parents, grandparents, the local community).
Through the basic goal of the project, we offered students innovative, diverse and simple games that draw from cultural heritage or. games that we once knew. They may have been forgotten, but are still interesting and original. We collected the games with the help of interviews and research work of the games, documented them, made gadgets, tested them, changed some of them into modern form and played a lot. The project connected schools and the local community more closely and motivated young people to explore cultural heritage.
Through activities in the project, we increased the intercultural competencies of young people, social competencies, strengthened critical thinking, intercultural dialogue and media literacy. We encouraged the inclusion of all, taking into account their needs.
