Project Summary

This project is about the Exchange of Good Practices in field of school education.
The project topic is “Let’s Move The Classroom To The Museums”
The project will start in September 2018 and will last of two years.
The project team is of four partners from four countries:
Regional Department of Education (RUO)- Vidin, Bulgaria – the project coordinator
Malatya Provincial Directorate of National Education, Turkey
2o GENIKO LYKEIO NEAS IONIAS MAGNISIAS, Volos, Greece

Today, most of the countries in the world face serious issues regarding the unemployment, active citizenship, the need to strengthen European unity. We believe that the education is the key to solving them. The main assumption behind the project is our understanding that the teacher is the key figure in the educational process whose skills and competences are decisive for the quality of education. But we can see the shortage of teachers because of low economic incentives, inadequate professional qualification of a considerable number of teachers and insufficient motivation to upgrade professional qualification. Our project wants to strengthen the profile of the teacher’s profession, because this will effects on our and our kids lives.
The key word for that is ‘cultural heritage’. Our shared cultural heritage is at the heart of the European way of life. It is ‘where the past meets the future’.
We would like to give the teachers new methodology, that will change the educational environment, the educational tools and methods. We want to give teachers and students the challenge to teach and study the general school subjects in the new environment – at the museums and archaeological sites, the challenge to study Math, Biology, Chemistry through investigating cultural artifacts. We want to give the teachers tools and approaches from non-formal education and regarding the innovations in the digital era.
The project objectives are:
1) To develop innovative, ICT based, methodology for enhancing the intercultural competences and skills of both teachers and students;
2) To emphasize the connection between cultural heritage and all school subjects ;
3) To stimulate collaboration between the participating countries through exchange of good practices;
4) To strengthen the profile of the teacher’s profession and thus increase motivation for lifelong learning;
5) To encourage school-local authorities partnership.
The target group addressed by the project is made up of school teachers and educational institutions in Bulgaria, Greece, Austria and Turkey. The RUO Vidin work with the team of teachers methodologists, that is part of the department during last 3 years.They, together with the teachers team from the school in Volos and the Malatya Provincial Directorate of National Education will develop the new methodology, how to teach general school subjects in museums and archaeological sites. The teachers will work with experts from the museums in Vidin, Malatya and Volos. The project will enhance the professional capacity of the target group as well as of other teachers and schools through subsequent dissemination of its results.
The project is based on six groups of interrelated activities:
1) Activities regarding establishing partnership and collaboration among partners.
2) Project management activities
3) Developmental activities. All they emphasize the connection between cultural heritage and all school subjects
4) Implementation activities
5) Evaluation.
An eTwinning project will starts in the beginning of the project.
We will have four Transnational project meetings(TM1-4), one short term joint staff training event for the project teams – C1-New innovative approaches in teaching in digital era and one short term exchange of group of pupils – C2 -Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
During the implementation and on the completion of the project we will create:
1) a toolkit “One Lesson at the Museum” with lesson planning guidelines for teachers all subjects, digital and online resources (presentations, games, educational interactive videos, and apps);
2) interactive online map to introduce project partners and activities;
3 )TwinSpace with all project materials;
4) a Facebook Page;
5 ) web page with all project products
6) YouTube channel with video of lessons in museums and archaeological sites.
The project activities will have both short-term and long-term impacts.
Short-term, they will result in enhanced teaching and learning skill of participants, the motivation to work and upgrade their professional qualification.
Long-term, engagement of schools outside the project; of regional authorities in intercultural education.
The dissemination and the sustainability of the project’s results is an important part of the project. We belief that the project results have potential to be transmitted to and used in other European countries.
