Project Summary

Homo Universalis is an Erasmus + project constituted by educational centers of secondary education from the following countries: Macedonia, Italy, Romania and as their coordinator, Spain. The project wants to restore the figure of Leonardo da Vinci and his humanist ideas, which are at the bottom of the current Erasmus idea and the European Union. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of this polymath’s death, we want to restore the importance of curiosity and knowledge; wise universal and Homo Universalis, Leonardo da Vinci is considered an example of life and he has known how to place man as the center of all knowledge.

As background ideas: the Renaissance as the origin of Modernity, the year 2018 as the anniversary of the Prado museum, the year 2019 with Matera as the European capital of culture, the European heritage as a source of wealth and common European sentiment, the year 2020 with the objectives of Europe towards an improvement of education and training of its inhabitants …

As ideas for the future: the importance that heritage holds over the wealth of a society, the use of new technologies for the study and discovery of it…

The current Europe cannot be understood without understanding its history before the Second World War and its current evolution; without our diversity and our inherited common past; without our cultural and artistic differences and our common values … which will make all of us the European citizens that we are.
