The purpose of this project is to help adult education centres (but also schools) transform the negative attitudes of their learners towards refugees, by creating: a) a multilingual online database of Greek, Turkish, Italian, and French/ Romanian art dealing with migration through the eyes of the departing emigrant and the left behind community, b) a multilingual e-handbook introducing the “Transformative learning through aesthetic experience” method, a method developed by professors of the Hellenic Open University in order to help teachers and trainers transform negative attitudes students have, accompanied by ready-made resources and many example lesson plans in English, Greek, Turkish, Italian and French, as well as c) a training course on this method for teachers and trainers in English, Greek, French, Italian and Turkish, accompanied by suggestions on how to format and deliver the course. In combination, the three will enable educators to link the emigration experience of the peoples of Europe to the refugee experience of people fleeing war to come to Europe, thus helping them bring about change to their students at attitudinal level. The resulting KA1 training course for teachers which will be organized once per year for the next 10 years and its material will be freely accessible to other organizations who might need to train their staff. The project’s target group is education and training professionals asked to include refugees in their classes, although the actual beneficiaries also include refugees and non-refugees vulnerable to radicalization. All material produced is open access from the partnership’s website and other well known platforms.
