Project Summary

The mobility of young people in Europe has created the need for authentic, interactive information material about cities and regions adapted to the needs of young travellers. Such material has been published for many European cities and is very popular among young travellers. The project’s objective was to create interactive maps of thematic routes featuring popular places in the cities of Nicosia and Vienna which will be uploaded and accessible via the project’s website. The interactive thematic routes were surrounded by information about the hot spots indicated in the map, photos, short videos and information about cultural and other activities in both cities. In order to complete this task 8 persons from Cyprus and Austria cooperated with each other creating the material for the cities supported by local youth groups, institutions and local stakeholders. In creating and designing their maps they were supported by experts and gain skills in ICT, photography as well as knowledge about the history and culture of their own and of the partner city. The project had a duration of 14 months and at the end of this period the website will be accessible to travellers to the partner cities containing information, interactive routes, photos, useful links etc. At the same time the young participants gained valuable skills and knowledge and increased their entrepreneurship and creativity. The project also had a positive impact not only on participants but also on the local communities, local entrepreneurs, the peer group of the participants, organisations active in the field of youth and all future visitors to the partners’ cities who will use the JMYC maps and information.
