Project Summary

The present project describes a German-Polish cooperation in the field of science and technology. The three chosen partners aimed at the joint realisation of the following three technical innovations:
-Extinguishing with sound waves
-Prosthetic technology for people with handicaps
-Robotics in the care of the elderly
To successfully achieve the goals, the three partners are an ideal constellation, as each partner brings its own competencies from which the other can benefit. After the technical implementation of these technical innovations, it was planned that the students would participate in competitions in the technical field in mixed teams, thus obtaining feedback from competent expert juries. In the course of the overall process, the project participants produced documentation of their work, which they then made available to third parties for further use and supplementation.
Due to Corona, the topic “Extinguishing with Sound Waves” could not be worked on. The project work in the area of “prosthesis technology” was successful, where a device was built that can read biometric signals from the skin to later control the prosthesis. This device was demonstrated to the mayor of Opole during the project trip to Opole. Later, the device was attached to a wheelchair so that it could be controlled with the help of the prosthesis technology.
Another success in the German-Polish cooperation is the development of a Polish pupil from the project group who constructed a device for the care of people with dementia and was allowed to demonstrate it in the nursing home in Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Opole. With this development, he took part in the Science Fair in Landau in the Palatinate and won 1st place in the competition. He was also accepted into a “Jugend forscht” competition due to his participation in an Erasmus+ project and achieved 1st place in the regional competition in Kaiserslautern.
The projects described are to be realised at different levels of difficulty and with different technical procedures and therefore address a heterogeneous target group. Thus, pupils from different age groups (14-20 years) and with different technical abilities are addressed.
