Project Summary
Our three schools – IES Miguel de Cervantes de Murcia (ES), BBS de Wildeshausen (DE) and Lycée St François d’ Assise de La Roche sur Yon (FR) – have decided to collaborate in a partnership “School Exchanges” in the aim of working on a topical issue that concerns Europe: “Mobilities and migration: what impacts on young Europeans?”.
Our students aged between 16 and 18 years (12 students per national team, accompanied by three teachers) come from general education in Spain, vocational education in Germany and technological education in France. Their differences in school cultures and field of studies will allow them to be complementary, supported by the three teaching teams working closely together to share their professional practices. The vehicular language will be English, practiced by all the teams at various proficiency levels.
A training meeting for teachers will be organized on the theme of managing migrants in classrooms and three students’ meetings are planned.
The students will be working on two main axes of mobilities in Europe: mobility by choice (studies, work, tourism…) and forced mobility (economic, environmental, political, refugee). Furthermore, they will need to compare the situations/ context and problems specific to their respective countries.
The national teams will develop surveys, interviews and reports. They will conduct fictitious recruitment interviews for a foreign school application, meet associations or local councils/authorities working for migrants. They will also participate in a theatrical performance. They will use a variety of media such as prezi, padlets, videos, e-book, website, applications such as Kahoot or Action Bound, thus enhancing the results of their research in an innovative way. They will also meet policy-makers to broaden their knowledge and communication skills.
European policies will be explored in concrete terms and, we hope, will contribute in making Europe more attractive.
The participating teachers will exchange on their teaching practices which may help develop and innovate their methods. Our schools will gain in internationalization and will be keen on expanding their network of companies, associations and schools. They will work in collaboration with their respective local communities.
Our prospects are to perpetuate the links created by extending the benefits of the partnership to other classes and pedagogical teams: for example, the mobility of staff or students from other fields.
Our aim is to create or optimise the feeling of European citizenship, to show that Europe is promoting youth development and educational cooperation. It is through these main lines of action that Europe can create more cohesion and a desire to live together.
