Project Summary
The nucleus of members of the association was formed spontaneously during a course held in Florence for teachers. The theme emerged after analysing the needs detected in the educational contexts represented, so a KA2 project proposal rose up focused on the prevention and reduction of harassment and discrimination, entitled: GRITFIS “DIVIDED WE FALL, TOGETHER WE STAND. IMPROVING STRATEGIES IN EUROPEAN SCHOOLS AND TEACHER TRAINING CENTERS TO PREVENT BULLYING AND DISCRIMINATION ACROSS EUROPE”. It was based in the exchange of good practices among the participating countries (Spain, Finland, Greece and Italy). The fundamental objective was the establishment of common mechanisms of detection, assistance and reduction of “bullying” and other types of discrimination due to ethnic, religious or economic causes in the schools involved, through good practices and contextualized implementation (knowledge and experience BBPP “in situ”, with timing and coordination spaces for qualitative and quantitative assessment analysis according to educational contexts).
The roles assumed have been:
– Teacher Training Centre of Málaga: Project coordinator, stimulating data collection and analysis strategies, with subsequent dissemination and planning of training activities (added value: possibility of exchanging good practices and training actions). Distributor of funds, control tasks and products.
– IES Francisco Javier de Burgos: Bilingual centre very interested in the use of integration strategies and prevention of bullying and exclusion, focusing on activities about “Mindfulness”, reduction of absenteeism and development of emotional intelligence. They have developed Mindfulness activities.
– IES Huelin: They have an internationalization commission that focuses on European awareness, promoting visualization strategies and visual thinking to deal with gender-based violence and the bilingual program, among others. In addition to: data analysis, development of own detection and bullying prevention tools (App), audiovisual product development.
– IES Politécnico Jesús Marín: They develop the coexistence within the framework of “Space School of Peace”. They are good in management of Erasmus + projects and the documentation of the project with videos stands out.
– IES Salvador Rueda: Centre with experience in European programs and peer mediation focused on highly effective measures and tools in the prevention of harassment and discrimination in the school environment.
– Tähtiniityn koulu: Centre with a large number of immigrant students, so they seek a quality education that enables them to develop life skills. As a purpose, there is the promotion of autonomy and self-esteem, as well as collaboration between students-teachers (Kiva and Arvokas).
– Postipuun koulu: School with general education, special and specific classes of preparation for students who do not speak the Finnish language (immigrants and refugees), so they give great relevance to tolerance and acceptance of diversity (Kiva and Arvokas).
– 2nd Dimotiko Sxolio Mileon-Kalon Neron Magnesia: Treat minorities and implement “antibullying” programs, with adequate integration and without trauma for the immigrant population in the school community, the acquisition of the Greek language and the establishment of ties between families and School.
– Europass: Trainers with extensive experience in organizing courses for teachers (national and international), focused on school integration, mediation and conflict resolution, among others.
In the four mobilities and in the transnational meetings, the result has been very positive because of the great motivation of everyone in order to participate in this project and the opportunity to improve school coexistence, as well as the professional profile of the teachers involved. The good practices observed have been experienced and implemented in the educational context through teacher training, directly and indirectly, including these activities not only carried out in the classroom, but also in the development of other specific competency dissemination with students and their families.
As results: INTANGIBLE: the experience and knowledge acquired by participants in direct or indirect way, during the realization of the project (increased feeling of European citizenship, acquisition of mechanisms to fight against bullying and discrimination, improvement of coexistence in educational centres , improvement of the professional competences of teachers / trainers and linguistics). TANGIBLES: creation of training itineraries on prevention of bullying and mediation (training centres), inclusion in the daily planning of dynamics or strategies that favor integration and reduce exclusion and bullying (schools), dissemination materials (all) and reports on mobilities / dissemination / supports / impact / analysis of indicators / strengths / sustainability (mainly, the coordinating centre).
