Project Summary
MOSAIK.Quijote is an intercultural project formed by young Europeans from different schools: Conservatorio Oficial de Música Hermanos Berzosa (Cáceres, Spain), Musikschule (Lüneburg, Germany), Conservatoire Henri Dutilleux (Clamart, France) and Hammarö Kulturskola (Hammarö, Sweden). In this project, eleven students were chosen from each school to put together a team. Through different artistic disciplines such as Dance, Music and Performing and Visual Arts, they created, carried out and performed together a project based on The Quixote from Miguel de Cervantes. An international team of teachers from all four schools supervised and guided the students in the analysis and understanding of the Cervantes’ text. During the first seven months, the teachers organized workshops in order to create the different scenes of the performance. The aims reached in this project are:
– To assess the importance of the different disciplines as languages or as means of cultural expression between nations and people.
– To share artistic experiences while working with colleagues from other countries in order to strengthen the European integration and promote European values, as well as the study and dissemination of our cultural heritage.
– To learn about educational systems and training in every discipline.
After two transnational meetings of the team of teachers carried out in the months of October 2016 and February 2017, in which all the activities of the week of joint work were organized, the working groups of each center met in the city of Cáceres (Spain) during a week in the month of May of 2017 in which the scenes were assembled and the stage performance was completed, which took place on May 24 at the Gran Teatro de la Ciudad. Part of the results of the project could be seen during that week at the MOSAIK.Quijote Exhibition organized in the Art Room “El Brocense” in Cáceres. A large number of local and regional media echoed this project and contributed to a wider dissemination of the activities organized by the MOSAIK team.
The project ended with the evaluation and evaluation of the work done and with the edition and publication of all the artistic material generated in MOSAIK.Quijote.
The tangible results are available to the public on the websites of the participating centers through links to different online platforms.
The MOSAIK project is currently preparing a new edition that will take place in the spring of 2019 in Clamart, France, under the title MOSAIK.TheCity.
