Project Summary

YOUNGSTERS I.DOC MAKERS (YIDOCM). YOUNGSTERS, NEW TECHNOLOGIES is an applied audiovisual innovation project developed by young students from professional education centers of Image and Sound, Graphic Arts and Informatics in Europe. YIDOCM culminates the evolution of the project “Youth seen by young people” towards interactive digital environments within the current communicative context. This project promotes the adaptation of schools and future professionals to changes in the online audiovisual context. Given the convergence of conventional media in the internet, in close symbiosis with social networks thanks to the development of new communication technologies, documentary genre have undergone important changes that result in a transmedia treatment of projects, providing interactivity to the documentary genre and expanding the story thanks to the development of the webdoc.

The specific objectives of YIDOCM have been:
– Development of new formal and non-formal skills of students in the Audiovisual, Graphic and Computer sectors of the participating schools (Transmedia Literacy: Media & Digital Literacy Competences).
– Guarantee the access of the original discourse of young people to the Media Communication in their different levels of coverage and distribution platforms.
– Promote the knowledge and critical capacity of young people around key issues for the future of Europe.
– Elaboration of guides and audiovisual contents adapted to lower educational stages.
– Consolidation of an expandable strategic network of VET centers in the audiovisual, graphic and information technology sectors.
YIDOCM surpasses the objectives of the most common educational projects, by making the multiplatform discourse of young creators reach the main conventional media as well as online distribution thanks to the webdoc. The young students of the participating centers have been the protagonists of the processes of collaborative creation of a documentary discourse original and alternative to the hegemonic discourse of the media around two especially relevant issues in the current horizon: climate change and flows migratory movements in Europe. YIDOCM has promoted the development of professional and transversal competences, particularly in the field of peer communication, communication in English, audiovisual and graphic innovation and the entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit.

The formal partners of this project were five OSZ ERNST LITFASS schools in Berlin, the ROBERTO ROSSELLINI institute in Rome, BERUFSSCHULE FÜR CHEMIE, GRAFIK UN GESTALTTENDE BERUFE in Vienna and the IES CLARA DEL REY and PUERTA BONITA (Coordinator), both from Madrid. The sixth partner has been the Play Acció Cultural Association, organizer of the Tarragona REC Festival and responsible for the Project Events.

It also highlights the collaboration of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) in Berlin, the TV channel Okto TV in Vienna and the special collaboration of the company Music Library & SFX.

The main results have been:
