Project Summary
The aim of the project „ACT in Europe“ (Application – Career – Training in Europe) is to enable students of year 8 and 9 to undertake career choice activities and research professional training possibilities in an international context and to understand the European dimension of careers, whereas teachers will develop and create „good-practice“ approaches to career choice support in order to avoid high drop out rates.
Five schools (from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Spain and Slovakia) will research different concepts of vocational counselling and vocational choice guidance in Europe.
The students will research possibilities to choose a career in their own country, conditions of career entry, qualifications, duration of training graduation etc
They inform the students of the partner schools about their research and compare the results during the project meetings.
They research employment opportunities in different job fields and find out about conditions to train and work in different European countries. The students research if degrees are accepted in partner countries or if there are any barriers,
They also find out about opportunities and advantages of a year abroad in training and job.
Besides, they create application documents in their mother tongue and in English and practice job interviews likewise (simulated interviews with personnel managers).
In addition the students will get to know about UNESCO world heritage places in their own and in the partner countries.
The results of all the research work will be summed up in presentations (e.g. Power Point) in the mother tonge and in English, presented to the partners during the project meetings and after that they will be made available in public.
The teachers of the partner schools will tell each other about career information and career choice support, compare and evaluate career choice support activities in the schools and the countries and research, discuss and evaluate innovative approaches to career choice support of different schools.
Drop out rates in the partner countries will also be discussed and based on this, the teachers will create facilities of good quality career choice support.
This output will be summed up in the mother tongue and in English and will be provided as „good practice samples“ for the national teachers training organisations.
Our DVDs about UNESCO world heritage places will be available for free in the ASPnet for the national UNESCO agencies and the UNESCO schools.
