Project Summary

The year 2018 has been proclaimed as European Year of the Cultural Heritage. The cultural heritage signifies four objectives: engagement, sustainability, protection and innovation. We based our project on these initiatives/pillars.
Our project aimed:
– to show that it is very important to raise our students´awareness of their history and cultural background and to be proud of their roots
– to get our students to bring new life to heritage and to engage them in exploring and discovering their own as well as other European cultural treasures
– to enhance the sense of belonging to a European family. By cooperating with schools from different parts of Europe, our students are going to see and accept the cultural diversity which is important for promoting democracy and peace.
– to show all participants how significant role the heritage plays in our lives and that there cannot be bright future without history
– to encourage all participants to identify their cultural heritage and accept the feeling of responsibility for it.
– to innovate education,do research and use technology.
– to promote language education and meet new people-to use their English as a tool for communication and cooperation, improve ICT skills and crosscurricular skills that are important at school but mainly for students´ future development.Using
English and different methods of ICT to fulfill project activities that include exploring culture, History, Art, Geography and Tourism, Civics, etc. improved the students´ overall knowledge and skills. The project aimed to use the crosscurricular
approach to help our students to see the links between the subjects in the real life.We wanted to show our students that communication in other language is a natural part of every life and motivate them to futher studying, travelling, exploring.
– to strenghen students´ selfconfidence and independence. We aimed to give our students opportunity to raise their selfconfidence by cooperating with peers from different countries.
– to support responsible approach to information and to develop critical thinking by searching and separating particular information.Students worked on certain tasks focusing on searching and compiling information and we wanted to teach students
how to share and defend own opinion.
– to help new inexperienced teachers with methodology, especially with the method CLIL which combines the English language with the content of the lesson being taught.CLIL leads to greater exposure of English and therefore it improves the students´ as well as the teachers´linguistic skills. The teachers became more self-confident to use English during their lessons.
The project focused on exchanging good practice in order to find the most effective ways for improvements in all aspects of education.Project activities were chosen to be linked up with the main priority and topics adressed by the project.
All results are further dissaminated in our schools, local communities and – by doing so in each school- the project have an international impact.
