Project Summary
Childhood is the time when present and future behavior is shaped including the ones considering healthy and happy lifestyle. It is determined by physical and cultural activities and also hygienic and nutritional habits. “MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO”.
Our sedentary kids with a poor diet and activities which make them isolated, affect the quality of their lives. Obesity in our students is becoming a big problem together with attitude such as intolerance with other cultures. We find children with specific physical and psychic conditions, hyper activities or lassitude, weaker focus attention, apathy, low self-esteem. It worries us since we want our students to become in a future “HEALTHY EUROPEAN CITIZENS, SENTITIVE AND RESPONSIBLES WITH THE ENVIRONMENT”.
We have decided to unite our efforts, share experience from previous projects, exchange know-how and create a European group consisting of teachers from Italy, Greece, Belgium, Finland and Spain. All of us are professionals in areas within our interests and with different methodological guidelines set out in for European regulations. This mix of methodologies will enrich our work at the same time that the European mix of cultures will enrich our continent.
Our activities are aimed at acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes and habits that would comprise about their future quality of life. The knowledge about health we treat as a basis integrating various educational aspects. By thinking, searching, experiencing, learning and making progress a child takes responsibility of their own health and happiness and begins perceiving it as an universal value.
The essential activities are focused on supporting child’s development and enhancing change of family lifestyle in such areas like nutrition, physical activities and psychic hygiene. The activities will be directed to develop and shape child’s personality.
Interdisciplinary approach of our actions would focus on: linguistic (CLIL) skills, healthy lifestyle, social and democratic education, history, science and environment, ICT. Our methodologies during the implementation of project will be based on cooperative learning, outdoor learning-teaching, scaffolding, problem solving, sense of initiative to turn ideas into action.
During the LTTAs will be carried out activities based on interactive teaching methods and student-centered approaches. Also will improve the quality of teaching in primary school, through teacher training and cooperative work.
We have also specified our needs/aims: Starting a cooperative work among Primary Schools to exchange experience, to share good practice, to work out new educational methodologies that would serve shaping the key competences, being a guarantee of children’s successful and free participation in democratic European society in the future.
In particular: Promoting the professional development of education staff (knowledge and skills) within methodologies and techniques of work with children aiming at promotion and dissemination of healthy lifestyle. Developing basic key competences of children: self-reliant in taking decisions in terms of healthy lifestyle. Raising awareness and knowledge of parents in terms of meaning of healthy lifestyle. Using ICT for development and dissemination of educational materials. Developing basis key competences of children: ICT skills “use and literacy”. Raising awareness of conscious participation in school community among parents. Developing children’s competence in terms of aware and responsible decision taking and acting at school. Developing teaching competences within selected rules of democratic education. Enhancing English proficiency and communication among teachers and students. Promoting internationalization of school cooperation and the outdoor learning.
In our project “HEALTHY REPORTERS AROUND EUROPE” activities such as “gastronomy workshop, outdoor picnic, chef competition, outdoor gymkhana, outdoor learning-teaching, fair of nations, creation of a blog, web quest, treasure hunt and school newspaper will help us to achieve our pedagogical objectives since we will use CLIL Approach, Task-Based Approach and outdoor learning/teaching. In this model we will start our work with a topic and we will use the language as a communicative instrument.
The impact on the educational communities during the project will be: implementation of new approaches, methodologies, activities, strategies along with good habits. Collaboration with parents in healthy and happy lifestyle activities. Collaborative activities with local high schools students will be realized .
The impact on the educational community once the project is completed will be: continue with the measures related to environment, healthy lifestyle and physical activities. Continue with the collaboration with our European partners through ICT with activities such as skype conferences, post in the blog project, penfriends emails.
