Project Summary
CONTEXT/PROJECT CONTEXT
“Carducci-Paolillo” school is in a suburb of Cerignola, a particular area with a high risk of dropping out. Our school includes and gives importance to all kinds of “differences”. The social and economic background of our students is LOW. There is an increasing number of students coming from families with disadvantages. In this area young people experience some problems like marginalization and “deviance”. There are students coming from immigrant families with language and socio-economic problems. It means that there are learning difficulties and a lack of participation in school activities.
Through the Erasmus+ KA2_ KA229, “Imparare facendo…Teatro” project, we could implement what our school “Improvement Plan” suggests in order to achieve the aims of the European Community.
To give more effect to the Erasmus+ project and include an increasing number of students and teachers, the project will be the same as the school “curricolo” of the local identity which is carried out every year in our school through 20% of the total number of hours.
Aims of the Project
The most important aim of the Erasmus+ project is:
1- to enhance the development of core skills. The action will be promoted by other two important elements:
1.shared values, civic involvement and participation
2. social and educational value of the European cultural heritage
Profile and number of participants
The project includes 5 European countries: Poland, Romania, Greece, Spain and Italy. Every country has been chosen in terms of its experiences and its intention to learn and teach through pedagogical techniques based on the theatre:
Poland: The shadow theatre;
Romania: The puppet theatre;
Greece: The theatre and the Myth;
Spain: The theatre dance;
Italy: “La Commedia dell’arte” and the relationship between Literature, Poetry, Music/Song and Theatre.
Description of the activity
Every activity will be done and detailed at school through workshops. Every country will propose a theme with elements related to its tradition and folklore. Everyone will have the possibility to communicate different contents and to let students know and give importance to the artistic and cultural heritage of all the countries involved.
Methodology to be used for the project
Theatre workshops will teach students how to get to know each other, express themselves and develop their personality. They will learn to relate to others, like “one for all, all for one”. There will be the participation of student’s families because they will make costumes, share food and traditions. Everything will be recorded and disseminated and on the twinspace every activity will be shared by all countries. Mobilities will provide an opportunity for on-site experimentation of different kinds of theatre and they will let students cooperate with others in order to create a show, meant as a cultural and artistic expression. Through the twinspace, there will be the possibility to exchange ideas, opinions and to develop social inclusion and civil coexistence.
Short description of the expected impact and results
We expect a deep impact on the whole school community and on the territory. We have already had the possibility to understand that our students prefer learning settings which are different from the classroom. It is important to let students express themselves in an alternative way so that they can be ready to go, cooperatively and effectively, beyond their limits and their difficulties. The topics analysed will help students develop core skills in a different way. They will learn to manage their conflicts and to get ready to take up employment in the future; they will develop a more efficient communication with students belonging to different cultures, by improving the use of a foreign language. They will achieve decision-making and entrepreneurial skills in order to organize events and performances. Everything will be useful for them so that they will grow harmoniously, reducing their sense of frustration and encouraging their self-esteem.
LONG-TERM POTENTIAL BENEFITS
Our long-term benefits expected won’t stop when the grant ends, but we would like to keep on carrying out this type of activities with different projects.
