Project Summary
“For a respectful and tolerant school” (FRATS) is a project whose main aim was to spread the PERSONA DOLL methodology, in order to promote a quiet and peaceful ambience at school by addressing and preventing intolerance, discrimination, violence and bullying. All of them are huge problems that teachers and pupils have to deal with every day.
Schools from 5 countries: France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain were partners of this project and they worked with an innovative methodology called “Persona Doll” in two main fields: Firstly, focused in teachers’ work with the aims of developing Persona Dolls methodology and creating in cooperation with partners teacher training materials to disseminate project outcomes and methodology. Teachers in every partner school participated in 4 training events during the 2 years of the project implementation ( the last one was a virtual training event). They analyzed, compared and reported their educative systems focused on different topics such as teaching of values, developing social skills in children, including children with special educational need, involving families . The results of these analyses draws conclusions and recommendations that were shared for improving our school curriculums. Teachers also created materials such as a handbook, video, WebPages, etc. for training other teachers and school with the purpose of spreading the Persona Doll methodology.
Secondly, the project was implemented in every partner school where activities related to Persona Doll methodology were developed and carried out. Pupils participated in several activities such as I’m special wall, differences, week of the countries, rules for being a good classmate, doll visits and stories, etc. The impact of the activities in their behaviour and in the improvement of the ambiance in classes and schools was evaluated through questionnaires, class diaries, check list, etc. And we can summarise that the Persona Doll methodology is efficacy for the aims proposed: • Prevent bullying and violence at school; • Develop and improve children social skills;•Increase tolerance. Children are aware of differences and find them as values; • Include children with special needs.
Partners do not have many difficulties in the implementation on the project, and we could adapt activities, training and results after problems caused by the situation after COVID-19. We arrange all the objectives. The tangible results are finished and published with free access on our WebPage -Twinspace and on Erasmus+ platform:
– Partnership’s WebPage “FRATS” in English.
– Every organization’s WebPages in mother Tongues.
– Handbook “Persona Doll Methodology” for teachers in English, French, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Spanish.
– International Doll Book with all doll’s country profiles and stories in English. (The information about Doll in mother tongues is on every organization’s WebPage).
All of them will remain actives for more than 5 years using found provided by management grant if it is necessary.
All the participant schools agreed and have already incorporated the activities and recommendations from this methodology to our curriculum. Families were informed about the implementation and results of the project and Teachers training centers in every country.
