Project Summary

The project is innovative because we have never talked seriously about the problems students face on the Internet. To achieve the goal of a healthy adolescence and a serene adult life, educators must accept new challenges arising from new lifestyles and global changes. Since our students are inclined to spend their time using computers/mobile phones surfing the Internet 24 hours per day, they have to be aware of the threats of the Internet. They are at a higher risk for suicidal thoughts, attempts and completed suicides. We can find a lot of cyberbullying cases in the media but we still have a problem how to save and teach members of school communities to recognize and react to bullying.
The main objectives of this project are to develop anti-cyberbullying action plans and effective strategies among partner schools in connection with the representatives for the prevention of cyberbullying, to deepen understanding of students’ needs to improve communication in a foreign language, critical thinking and digital competences, to encourage students to discuss incidents of cyberbullying and work out a solution and to publish several research studies in the field of cyberbullying in partner schools’ websites, Facebook, eTwinning portal and the Erasmus + Project Results Platform.
There are four non-profit organisations which join this project. All the participating organisations match up respective social and schooling background, IT competences and local stakeholders’ engagement to investigate the phenomenon of cyberbullying, get wider perspective and work out educational strategies through curricular and extra-curricular subjects. Actors can learn how to work better in new types of networks in order to address to issues of cyberbullying which are of transnational importance. That will help critically analyse and evaluate the information provided as well as securely and responsibly use information technology. Approaching correctly those issues means enriching one’s inner world, drawing local/regional students and parents’ attention to the problem of cyberbullying, improving and using basic ICT skills, offering cross-curricular teaching strategies, enhancing tolerance, respecting diversity and fostering intercultural dialogue.
Active engagement of students (aged 11 – 17), case studies and support from local organizations and associations will help choose the best practices to support dissemination in respective territories. The participants will work out questionnaires and sum up the data in surveys. PPT presentations, Mind Maps and posters will be presented to other schools. Leaflets will be produced and handed out among primary and lower secondary school students. Parents and teachers will meet up with psychologists from the National Health Service to afford to judge the issue from different angles. The students will take part in various contests to award the best international logo and the most representative video clips. Dedicated pages on social websites, both created articles on paper and online newspapers will be presented at national conventions and press conferences, and shared on a local, national and international scenes for future commitment on eTwinning and other online platforms such as the Erasmus + Project Results Platform.
To carry out the project various methods will be used such as the question-and-answer technique, inquiry-based learning, group-learning method (role-play, discussion), design thinking/case method, flipped classroom, expeditationary learning as well as technological teaching techniques of free online learning tools and social media.
We are planning to come up to a number of tangible and intangible results that will influence different target groups at local/regional, national and EU level. All participating schools will use joint surveys, studies and analyses of the activity as new learning/teaching materials and tools in their lessons as well as organise integrated lessons. Success of the project will be determined through the qualitative analysis of the reflections of the students, teachers and parents. All participants will increase their knowledge and skills in addressing the issue of cyberbullying. Cooperating, sharing output and informing the community about results will form a better understanding about what a welfare community is.
To stimulate interest we will calculate on presenting research studies online to receive wider recognition from the public. As we plan to disseminate the issue material on eTwinning portal and other online platforms, that will give our project wider publicity and it might lead to the birth of other potential projects about cyberbullying cases. The participating organizations will also develop a unique school-based training programme against cyberbullying and implement it on a municipality level. Youth participation in cyberbullying prevention will increase and students‘ surveys about this issue will be integrated into school curriculum.
