Project Summary
The project “International English Learners and Teachers Academy”, lasting 24 months, intends to exchange good practices between English teachers from schools in Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland and Hungary, so that in each of the partner schools the efficiency of teaching English increases. Each of the schools aims to achieve – adequately to the assumptions of external organs – certain levels of communication competence in English when finishing education at a given level. Thanks to the exchange of experiences, working with students using the eTwinning platform and activities carried out during student mobility, we will create a set of methods and solutions, approaches, as well as tools, applications, programs and other in the field of ICT to strengthen the effects of teaching communication in English, and to increase the degree of commitment, creativity and a sense of responsibility for the learning process in students. These methods and tools will be implemented in each school participating in the project, and disseminated outside of the partnership through a publication describing the results with examples of applications.
An important assumption of our project is that the set of methods and tools which we develop will be the result of the work not only of the teachers participating in the the project, but also the work of students who, having completed a given part of the project, will present their observations and draw conclusions from them, creating lists of methods, approaches, tools etc. that they found helpful in learning English. 120 students qualified for mobility will participate in the project, approx. 30 teachers qualified for mobility, approx. 280 students participating in local activities (included in this number are also 120 students qualified for mobility). Local activities will be implemented primarily using eTwinning and in international teams (simultaneous participation of students from each school). Planned in the project are: 4 short exchanges of student groups and 1 short-term employee training, as well as regular cooperation through the eTwinning platform.
We assume to achieve the following results:
1) creating a list of methods, tools, approaches, solutions – their description together with examples of applications (lesson plans) developed together as part of the project – this book will be published in English and in national languages of the participating countries;
2) all foreign language teachers (100%) in schools participating in the project will be gradually (after each part) acquainted with the above mentioned project results (by teachers participating in the project) and they will implement them in their daily work with students; during the last 3 months of the project and after its completion 100% foreign language teachers in each school will be using new solutions in at least 50% of classes;
3) at least 80% of students participating in the project will increase language skills by at least 1 level (in each area, i.e. reading, writing, listening, communicating, independent speaking), assessed with Europass Language Passport on entry and exit from the project;
4) at least 80% of the above mentioned students will develop competence in: cooperation in an international peer group, solution seeking, as well as attitudes of openness, understanding, tolerance and respect for equality, readiness to help out
5) in the survey after participating in the project, at least 80% of the abovementioned students will show an increase in the degree of commitment, creativity and a sense of responsibility for the English language learning process compared to the degree at the entrance, and will give at least 3 specific examples they have learned during the project.
Long-term results of our project activities are an increase in English language teaching efficiency as well as other foreign language teaching in our schools, indicated in the improvement of end-of-year results and external exams of the students. Comparative analysis (in relation to the results in 2020) will be carried out in 2023, 2025 and 2027.
