Project Summary
Creativity, as a 21st-century skill, has gained more interest these past years and has become one of the key competencies to be implemented in classrooms. Creativity is important to students because it allows them to engage in divergent thinking in a subjective manner. Since it is a subjective form of thinking, it is important to a couple of critical thinking with creative thinking to prepare students for life as they go on to become independent individuals who contribute to society. However, some studies highlight teachers’ difficulties to integrate it in a classroom context. For instance, introducing creativity in overloaded school curricula may be a hindrance to developing it. The students of this generation are not being taught how to creatively think in the schools, which is resulting in a fall of creative communication in the workplace. Creative thinking contributes to the invention of new ideas, perspectives, concepts, principles, and products in our society. If creativity is to be exemplified later in life by adults, it must be fostered in children first. The aim of this project is to use photography as an integral tool to encourage creativity in different fields such as mathematics, science, langıuage, art, and history. The pupils will learn how to take and process pictures using modern tools and, also, promote human values with the help of photography. Developing a wide range of skills and personal qualities represents our second target, such as close attention to details, constructive criticism, self-instructive spirit, communicative skills, the ability to analyze and synthesize a problem, originality, creativity. With the basic principle that: “If students can not learn the way we teach them, then we must teach them the way they can learn” we believe that this program will be an opportunity for new experiences, new knowledge and new skills that will benefit everyone. We are six partners and the main responsibilities are: Poland handles basic principles of Photography and Creativity in Language section and creativity in Language sections, Portugal handles the creativity in Math section, Turkey handles the creativity in the History section, Italy (Sicily)handles creativity in Science section, Partner from Italy handles of creativity in Art, and Bulgarian handles the creativity in Nature section. Through all planned activities all of the students involved in the project will develop their creativity. The pupils are the main actors. The project focuses on them. They will take part in all activities and have already contributed some ideas. The methodology to be used in carrying out the Project will be based on student investigation, inquiry-based learning, and practical projects. The strategy during the activities will be to work in small groups to develop cooperative skills. The teacher will be a supportive figure who provides guidance and support for students throughout their learning process. The project, based on using photography to teach and to learn, promotes the creation of a wide range of original and creative products that will be made available publically
online.
