Project Summary

CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND
Starting from the consideration that global active citizenship needs to promote the concept of civic participation, our project will focus on the analysis of some aspects as integration, equality, sustanaibility, environment protection, volunteering and knowledge of the common European roots of partner countries , aiming to find keys to empower intercultural dialogue to reduce social and cultural barriers to foster respect towards “ the new, different, unknown” and to enhance an active European citizenship to develop civic and social competences which encourage inclusion, democracy, participation of the future European citizens to the governance of their own countries. In accordance with the 2030 U.N.Agenda pupils will analyse and work on 6 cross- curricular themes : 1)the Constitution of partner countries , the Charts of Fundamental Rights of the European Citizens and the Declaration of Human Rights. 2) Stereotypes and prejudices 3)Environmental protection and sustainable development 4 ) Inclusion and equality 5) Climate change 6) Volunteering for the school or the community. We intend to develop students’ reflection on learning in a global world through computer-supported learning platforms and intercultural communication , enhancing pluringuistic competence and digital competence .This will be achieved through the joint working of students and teachers on the cross-curricular themes. The activities and knowledge acquired will be summarized in a DVD and a multi-language e-book ” Global Awareness and Active Citizenship for a better world” will be created together with crosscultural studies on ,,inclusion” of minorities
OBJECTIVES:
To raise awareness on the global issues of our times
To promote the idea of making active and creative young citizens, the co-operation of young people with the local communities, local non-government organizations and voluntary organizations.
To expand students’ knowledge about their own and partners’ countries
To give them a chance to perfect English and the partners’ languages
To teach students vital skills for learning and social skills for life which will help them in their professional development
To demolish cultural prejudices
To let teachers try and develop new and different pedagogical approaches
To develop students’ perspective on learning in a global world through computer learning platforms, intercultural communication, exchanges

ITALY the school in Potenza focuses on the relationship between scientific and humanistic knowledge especially on foreign languages, ICT, STEM subjects,
PORTUGAL:The high school in Guimarães offers scientific and humanistic courses (Science and Technology, Visual Arts, Languages/ Humanities and Economics) and professional courses (Environmental and Rural Tourism, Trading and Audiovisual).
BELGIUM The school in Ostende is a general, secondary education in maths, sciences, humanities, modern languages, Latin, CLIL, STEM, maritime sciences, economy, sports
GREECE: the school in Kilkis offers education courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, IT, Biology, History, Social Sciences and Ancient Greek Language.
POLAND:The school is in Lublin and consists of upper secondary School, Technical School of Gastronomy and Hotel Management, 1st-degree Vocational School.
FINLAND: the school In Jyväskylä is an international school owned by a private NGO foundation and offers vocational education and a national degree
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

Works on the main themes of the project
Produces presentations, videos
Cooperates using the etwinning space
Shares the findings during the meetings
Organizes and participates in activities
Meets experts and associations related to the topics
Produces a multi-language e-book ” Global Awareness and Active Citizenship for a better world” together with crosscultural studies on ,,inclusion” of minorities
METHODOLOGY: Pair and group works, research and analysis, use of ICT, cooperative learning
RESULTS :Teachers and students will acquire the “know- how” to work on projects
Students will acquire knowledge about European countries
Teachers will acquire new and interesting methods of teaching
IMPACT: Attitudes towards European citizenship with a focus on the cultural, social and historical heritage
Students and staff more interested in European exchange programmes
Their attraction to language diversity and to innovative ICT tools will increase.
LONGER TERM BENEFITS: schools will benefit from staff and students who can think critically and intervene for development and change
The profile of the schools in the local community will raise and bring a stronger European dimension
