Project Summary

Context and background of the project: The modern world is shaping the way we communicate, work, learn, and take part in society. As educators, we have a responsibility to ensure our students have the competences and attitudes necessary to be successful in contemporary society. Being digitally competent is more than being able to use the latest smartphone or computer software — it is about being able to use ICT in a critical, collaborative and creative way. According to ELINET one in five 15-year-olds lacks basic literacy skills. Not only does this make it difficult for them to find a job, but it also increases their risk of poverty and social exclusion, limiting opportunities for cultural and civil participation, lifelong learning and personal growth. Literacy standards and digital competences in all participating schools have not been met. This project is aimed at allowing partner schools to develop networks, capacity to operate at transnational level, share and confront ideas, practices, and methods especially in the use of ICT and literacy.
Objectives of the project: students will: further develop their English fluency, feel more competent in utilizing ICT, develop confidence in literacy skills, use technology more safely, use digital tools to record and edit videos, create a song in English, participate in singing competitions, create a presentation about peer learning, teach each other about their cultures and traditional values, create a storyboard telling their story about European citizen, create IT maps on safe Internet surfing, join up with their parents to test their knowledge on ICT, write eCards to their friends from participating schools, test their knowledge through Kahoot quiz, take photos and write articles and upload them on website and Twinspace, have online debates with their peers, work on eTwinning projects. Teachers will: receive training in ICT and Literacy, use a common approach to Literacy activities, develop confidence in ICT and Literacy, work on eTwinning projects share different approaches to ICT, literacy and parental inclusion in school life.
