Project Summary
The main objective of the K229 I’mpact project is the exchange of good practices in the field of the environment. There are three participating educational institutions: the coordinating centre IES Alonso de Ercilla (Spain), Middenschool Sint-Pieter (Belgium) and Øyslebø oppvekstsenter (Norway). The project lasts 24 months and is proposed for the academic years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
The horizontal priorities on which it is based are environmental and climate goals, common values, civic engagement and participation, and social inclusion. The topics addressed in the project are the environment and climate change, health and well-being and ICT, new technologies and digital competition.
Our schools have already participated together in previous projects, an example of this is the K229 PerhApps? We can help !, which has managed to improve the climate of coexistence in our schools. The current project aims to continue this collaboration and increase the involvement of the educational community in such an important and urgent topic as the climate situation.
“I’mpact” aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce our ecological footprint and wants to serve as a platform to carry out actions that have a positive impact on our environment, as the name of the project states: “I’m aware”, I am aware of the current climate problem; “I’m positive”, I am positive in the development of this challenge; “I act”, I act accordingly. The objectives of this project are divided into intangible, strategic and tangible ones. The first ones refer to awareness raising, which fosters a spirit of respect towards our planet. The second ones are related to the methodological and educational innovation that the proposed interdisciplinary and competency activities entail. The third ones refer to the implementation of actions that have a real impact, such as conducting different workshops, recycling and reusing waste, among others, reforestation or garbage collection activities, among other activities.
Regarding the expected results, we hope that, through methodological and educational innovation, we will be able to raise awareness and carry out concrete actions to reverse the effects of climate change. To do this, the project plans to carry out two types of activities. Firstly, throughout the two academic years, activities will be carried out in each of the centers and eTwinning will be taken as a platform for contact between teachers and students, as well as a space to share photos and experiences of each activity. Likewise, some of them will be proposed based directly on the different eTwinning work possibilities, which will serve for collaborative work and promote joint learning. Secondly, throughout each academic year there will be an exchange in each country in which 9 8th students will participate in each country. In them our students will get to know each other beyond the virtual world and will strengthen their relationships; likewise, visits to national parks, workshops and games will be carried out to facilitate the achievement of the stated objectives.
The project will include the participation of local political and cultural entities, as well as companies and NGOs. This will allow our actions to have a greater impact and it will create synergies between the students of the same center, the students of the different centers, teachers and with all the entities participating in the project. Also, there will be the use of other social networks to project our project, so that good practices can be widely known.
Finally, a continuous and efficient evaluation will allow us to know at all times the efficiency of our project and those areas in which to pay special attention. It is, therefore, a flexible project, capable of adapting to circumstances with the aim of achieving the greatest possible impact in our educational communities.
