Project Summary
More and more educators are realising that the outdoor environment can be more stimulating and more effective for learning than indoor spaces. The direct outdoor experience is much more motivating, has more impact and is real. Learning outdoors in a balance using technology will modernize teaching, make learning more fun and therefore it will reduce the risk of dropping out of school. The aim is to increase the quality of training through outdoor activities, thus developing skills and key competences that are important to 21st century life. To learn how to solve problems and think critically in the natural environment with a thought for nature and the surrounding social environment. The partners are from Lithuania (coordinator), Estonia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Latvia and Spain. Most of them are experienced with the projects and smaller part of them are new to the program but all are motivated and with a good experience in outdoor learning.
The project will have several modules: Early Literacy, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, History and Legends, Culture and Traditions, Music and Arts. In each module there will be interactive outdoor lessons to become familiar with the topic and look for problems that children will try to solve. One partner is responsible for the tasks in each module (tasks and LTTA). During each module, special attention will be paid to personal development activities and team skills. The project will be registered in eTwinning and will work in parallel.
According to the preliminary plan of the activities, partners will divide the tasks among themselves so that everyone assumes responsibility according to their skills of craft. As the tasks we will have :
1. Curriculum integration
2. Problem solving
3. Development of at least three key competencies
4. The possibility of initiative and creativity of children.
Teachers will use:
1. Interactive methods and approaches
2. Work in group and team with the kids, project approach
3. ICT
4. Turn on families and society throughout the course of work
Work will be fully integrated in the curriculum, as will diversify, modernize and enrich with new ideas to practice. The project will provide good examples of collaboration and outdoor learning that will be accessible to all interested through online publications and an online edition of final products – there will be a book with all materials, dictionary and website. Monitoring will be a part of our work throughout the all the project. Reporting will be on quantitative and qualitative measures. Impact and dissemination will be local- in school , parents, local community , regional – medias, authorities, regional seminars , trainings- national forums, seminars for dissemination publications, and international level – eTwinning, conferences, Erasmus events, publications.
