Project Summary
Since schools should not be left out of a world increasingly tending to the inclusion of differences that segregate us and the globalization of knowledge that equals us, the project of creating a media platform (ERASMUS+ MEDIA) accomplishes objectives that every educational centre should pursue: on one hand it promotes the ways to enrich them with the experience of getting to know other countries of the European Union, to know more of social, culture and historical heritage that both unify us and makes each of us unique. On the other hand, it values the importance of key competences and basic skills such as mass media and information technologies and set them within the limits of the society of the knowledge which we are immersed in. It also encourages the use of social networks with other convenient purposes, like international cooperation, cross-curricular activities, use of foreign languages and creativity, all in accordance with the spirit of our project. ERASMUS+ MEDIA is an ambitious project of information and communication that aims to create a media cooperation for educational purposes. For that reason, we pursue the following: developing Linguistic comptence through the interacton in which the participants will be involved, digital competence through the creation of videos, and podcasts, cultural expression competence with learning about cultural heritage in different parts of Europe, social and civic competence with our cooperation between partner countries and finally deepen the knowledge of different socio-economic activities of the places visited. We will accomplish these objectives by learning how to use the linguistic tools (both written and digital), improving the use of ICTs, writing interviews, learning the about the local products, knowledge of differences in educational systems and raising awareness about different cultural expressions. During each mobility, our students will work as real journalists, searching for the information which they will later put together in the form of videos, podcasts or written reports to upload them on digital platforms such as TwinSpace and a NewsWeb especially created for the dissemination. This will contribute to the achievement of some of the objectives of the Strategic Framework for European Development such as improving the quality and efficiency of education, promoting equality, social cohesion and active citizenship, increasing creativity and innovation, and finally, making social, geographical and economic inclusion possible. The members of the educational community that will join directly through participating in a mobility are 20 students per school between 15-18 years old. Teachers who will participate in the Project to guide the students in their tasks are Language teachers (who will guide in the correct use of language), Art, Media, Civic teachers (who will contribute with the technological and creative aspects), Biology teachers (who will be in charge of issues related to the making of the local products), and Music, Civic, Media teachers (who will help in the podcasts). History and Civic teachers(who will guide in cultural aspects). The participants indirectly involved in the development, of the project are those students aged between 12-18 who will prepare the schools in the welcome events and also participate in the interviews carried out by foreigners. They will also collaborate in the decoration of the school, highlighting the most significant cultural elements. The METHODOLOGY and development of the project will be based on cross-curricular collaboration, participation and multiculturalism. For this, 4 students from each school will travel in each mobility and will work as a team to carry out the different planned activities and will gather all the information obtained to put it together for the final task of the project. An extra value will be added with forming international groups to bring the cooperation and use of English and ICT-tools and channels a necessity to fulfil the production of the media. In the end, we must point out that our schools will be reinforced due to ERASMUS+ MEDIA since their respective educational communities will have been sharing their knowledge and skills to a new project and in a real context, making their students more competent and their teachers more knowledgeable. They will be also much more aware of the links that join them to their history and background. And above all, they will have developed activities that are transcendent and useful enough to become permanent activities after the Project ends. In addition, we plan to continue collaborating in the TwinSpace and NewsWeb after the end of the project. Involving the educational community in a common task will strengthen the links, generating a shared emotion and providing the necessary cohesion to continue communicating and working among ERAMUS+ MEDIA partners, which will benefit more students beyond the time limits set in the project.
