Project Summary

The four partners taking part in this project firmly believe that a positive atmosphere within the school is one of its main foundations. A good atmosphere eases the relationship between teachers and students, improves the teaching and learning processes and also helps students to become responsible and committed citizens.

That is the reason why the creation of a team of both students and teachers, all of them volunteers and concerned about this issue is paramount. This team should meet regularly and should carry out training sessions so that they are able to detect different situations such as isolation, discrimination in terms of gender, social or economic issues, religion and so on, bullying, etc. and mediate as peers if possible.

Therefore, this Erasmus+ project aims to enhance teams like the one just described and create more in the other partners’ schools if they do not yet exist. These schools will share experiences regarding this issue such as getting to know their protocols and activities which foster the inclusion of all students and conflict prevention. The participation of these four partners will also encourage students to improve their English as a tool for communication with the teachers and students involved in the project as well as get to know the languages of each participant country.

Regarding the objectives, the main aim of this project is to create a group of students and teachers concerned about conflicts and aware of different methods that can be used to create a positive atmosphere in the school by dealing with the prevention of conflicts and their resolution when they arise. Therefore, we aim to promote an integral education so that the students become more responsible and solidary by engaging them actively in the creation of a good atmosphere in their schools. By getting to know the protocols or the actions and strategies other schools use to this end, they will be able to improve their own.

A group of around thirty students per school will take part in this project, all of them with certain qualities such as empathy, listening skills, responsibility, sensibility, etc. and a willingness to create a good atmosphere within the school. The same applies to the teachers participating in the project: there will between ten and fifteen teachers involved in each school.

In terms of activities, we plan to reflect and exchange ideas among partners as regards the prevention of conflicts, including an active participation of both teachers and students. We plan to organise a kick-off meeting and four transnational meetings to develop a common framework which can be implemented in the four schools despite their differences, as well as to share ideas, experiences and difficulties on this issue. Each school will express their problems and together will discuss possible solutions in order to tackle the conflicts that may arise in the school.

The different activities will encourage the active participation of all the students and teachers involved and different documents and activities that are applied and carried out in the four schools will be shared so that they can be implemented in the others. The project will serve to illustrate the realities in each school and how they tackle this issue. Different workshops with students, with teachers and with both students and teachers will be carried out.

As far as the results and the impact of this project are concerned, it will have great benefits to all the school communities as it will allow the creation and/or consolidation of different teams of teachers and students who will be more tolerant, responsible and committed to the creation of a positive educational atmosphere which will improve life in the schools, help in the years to come and support incoming students.
