Project Summary
‘Industry 4.0 and the impact on technical education’ is the title of our project. Industry 4.0 is a nickname used for the 4th industrial revolution. The revolution stands for thorough computerization of machines used in all kinds of industries.
Our project will investigate the impact of this on technical education, more specifically on what we should include in our automation lessons. We will do this by building didactic installations in which these new technologies will be implemented. Each school will end up with two different didactic installations that will used in our automation lessons.
The driving forces behind this project will be a number of teachers from our automation departments. But we will also give 24 pupils, pupils from both countries, the chance to participate in this project. They will be involved in the practical development of the didactic installations: designing parts, making technical drawings for these parts and the electrical diagrams. As icing on the cake, these pupils will also work together to merge the components into a working arrangement, during four student exchange periods. The result of these exchanges is not only a technical installation, but also gives our students the experience of working with foreign technicians. This can help them in their later profession. The created didactic installations will later be used by our future pupils. The technical documents will
also be made available for other colleagues and schools. Even a training course for teachers from other schools is included in the planning.
