Project Summary
MATHS IN MOTION is a two-year project of strategic partnership of five schools from EU countries – the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Portugal and Sweden; starting in October 2020. These countries promise great differences in educational systems, lifestyle, culture as well as in family life and core values. All schools are aware of the fact that nowadays it is important to look for new methods, follow new trends in education, to find new ways how to prepare learning and teaching more enjoyable.
During two years of the project students and teachers will work in two main areas – Maths, Social and Cultural Activities. Maths activities will be closely linked with PE, Art, ICT. The project will cover these areas of Maths: MATHS GAMES, GEOMETRY, LOGICS, MANIPULATIVES, MATHS IN ART, and STATISTICS.
Different areas of Maths, social, cultural, sports and ICT activities will be worked on 3 levels:
1. International online cooperation – project participants will work on tasks according to the topics of project plan, they will share interesting Maths tasks and problems, information about themselves (Twinspace, WhatsApp, Skype, Padlet).
2. School work in national teams – national project teams will prepare Maths tasks for project partners, they will solve problems from other teams, they will also work on social and cultural topics together.
3. International face to face meeting – each mobility will be connected with one Maths area, students will take part in regular Maths, PE, Art lessons; they will solve Maths problems in international teams. Maths tasks will be closely linked with PE, Art, ICT and they will be connected with the Maths area practised online just before the meeting.
The aims of the project are to:
• enhance basic skills, share successfully used learning and teaching methods
• link English, IT, Maths, PE, Art and cultural and social studies ;create eBook in English full of photos, interesting tasks, Maths problems and activities
• show what we are good at and share the experience and skills
• motivate students and teachers to give better performance, to be more willing to learn and teach and to enjoy learning process
• increase interest in Maths
• learn to use modern and useful IT tools; plan, organize and share such indoor and outdoor activities where students become self- reliant and will be able to contribute to the project
• discover and share new cultures, get information about other people, schools, educational systems, towns and countries
• enable students to have a face to face contact with people from abroad and see that learning English makes sense and it is a necessity for all EU citizens
• give our pupils a real opportunity to participate, cooperate in national and international teams and learn in a global and multicultural environment
The project includes the following main groups of participants:
• Students aged 12-15 from the schools (250 students directly involved, 45% of these are with fewer opportunities)
• Coordinators of the project
• Teachers: Maths (10-15) ,IT(6-8),English(15-18), PE(8-10), Art(5)
• Teachers ans students influenced by the project from all schools (2000)
• Other school staff (20)
• Managements of the schools (headmasters, accountants) (15-18)
• Parents, families of students, municipality representatives, public
Teachers involved in the project will use their newly gained teaching methods in their daily profession in order to motivate the students:
• They will spread them to other teachers with interest and the schools will benefit from this
• The project will bring a better reputation to all participating schools
• All the contacts with foreign friends (students and teachers) will be useful in the future, as for online or virtual work (practicing English) or as a solid base for other possible project or work in other languages that are spoken in participating countries (Russian, German)
Material collected during activities and eBook will be used differently in the future – in Maths, History, English, Geography, Citizenship lessons, or at afternoon clubs
The results and new gained information and methods will be disseminated to pupils and staff inside each school, including the management and the municipality
• This will be done at different events organized at schools (Open Days, festivals, workshops, meetings, discussions, notice boards) and will be also available to parents or a larger public, or visible on websites and Facebook and in local press
• Pupils who travel abroad will visit different classes at schools and will speak about their experiences and activities, they will also share their experience at meetings with village/town representatives
• eBook in English will be actively used at the schools and also offered as a useful methodological material for other teachers, it will be available on schools´ websites
• The results of the project will be shared on the eTwinning portal
