Project Summary

This project has started as a result of the partner schools’ identified needs to provide the target group (14-18 years old students) with the skills, attitudes and key competences for today’ s and tomorrow’s world: intercultural competences, cultural awareness, English and ICT skills, creativity, critical thinking, flexibility, social and civic skills, general knowledge of the world, communication, collaboration, teamwork and leadership, self-confidence and motivation to continue educational and personal development. The context has been given by the fact that we cannot stay indifferent to the world which, on the one hand, is getting interconnected thanks to technological developments and on the other hand, confronts with a cultural identity crisis because people have to move as a result of unemployment, wars, religious beliefs, discrimination. The students lack knowledge about different cultures as this is not studied in school curricula. Through the project, our students will discover and understand their own and the other partner countries’ national heritage, they will teach their peers and communities the values of culture, tolerance, friendship, collaboration, respect, contributing, thus, to a better world. Our project `Unification in Diversity´ addresses this issue by highlighting both globalization and glocalization alike, the necessity to learn to discover one another’s cultural identity in a tone of mutual respect and acceptance.
The project’s objectives are:
1.to explore each country’s cultural heritage in order to provide learning skills and key competences that are of utmost importance in the modern world.
2.to put into practice new methodological approaches that permit a holistic and multidisciplinary acquisition and development of key competences
3.to make the project and the obtained results be known at local, regional, national and international level
The participants are: teachers and students that take part in LTT activities and the virtual exchanges via eTwinning including the students from underprivileged backgrounds, other students and teachers from each school who participate in the preparations of materials, local community, educational community and boards, authorities, general public at regional, national and international level as target group for dissemination. The total number of people: 5000
At project level we have set six LTT Activities, in each of them we will create specific final products and do activities that are planned in such a way to enable the participants( 4 students per each team and 2 accompanying persons per team) to reach the project’s objectives. The results will be: the development of skills, attitudes, competences and the final products : ‘We Live Here’, ‘Art and Intercultural Dialogue’, ‘Open Air Painting of Unity’, ‘The craftsmanship of our countries’, ‘Skills of the present – the Project’s International Virtual Museum of Cultural Heritage’ , which is a website and a video of presentation that will make a virtual tour of a 3D museum , ‘Celebrating Diversity and Traditions’ , ‘Around the World Calendar on History, Customs, Festivals and Celebrations’, ‘Kahoot quizzes on diversity and traditions’, ‘Clothing from my country tells a story of national heritage’, ‘Our nation’s food is not only ours- it is or it may be universal’ , ‘I’ll teach you our national sports and games’, ‘Stories from our country – Teaching English and cultural identity through stories’. ‘Living Libraries’, ‘My Cultural Landscape’, ‘Let’s protect our landscapes with a friendly- environmentally attitude to what heritage tourism means’, ‘Cultural diversity and unity’-a film made by the students.
Other activities: popularization of the project, selection of the project team, setting up the project digital channels, virtual exchanges via e-Twinning, exhibitions, workshops, dissemination, evaluation, monitoring.
The methodology we will apply is of fairness and unbiased approaches to all the aspects regarding the implementation, distribution of tasks, participants’ selection.
The impact:
– on the participants in the LTT activities, virtual exchanges and in the dissemination workshops who will acquire and develop the skills and key competences targeted at by the project.
– on the schools that will increase their prestige through improved education as the project’s results will be used in teaching, optional courses and extra-curricular activities.
-on the local communities through the raise in cultural awareness, tolerance, social and civic skills.
-on the general public as the project’s results will be available on the project’s digital channels.
The long terms benefits are: the increased knowledge of the other cultures, the openness and acceptance to what is different, the development of skills that will be used in education, personal life, future careers, the gained confidence in the collaboration between schools that will enable us to exchange good practice and start other projects.
