Project Summary
Project Summary:
A Differentiated Classroom, a Teacher Exchange Project (Erasmus+, KA229)
Context/background of project: Teachers are responsible for a variety of learners with a diversity of needs. Every classroom has students with different abilities. It is up to the teacher to recognize these distinctive characteristics and come up with lesson plans that speak to everyone. Every child should be given the opportunity to develop and learn and teaching should be rewarding and beneficial for all students. If a child has special needs she or he should be given the support she or he needs to learn. Students who easily reach knowledge requirements should be challenged to reach further. This is a challenge for every teacher and this project is for teachers from different countries to meet, visit each others classrooms and discuss teaching strategies.
Objectives of your project: The main objective of the project is to to develop, share and transfer best practices in how to lead and manage a differentiated classroom. In the project we will develop teacher’s toolkit of activities and teaching strategies. Our main goal is to develop teaching so that it is more rewarding and beneficial for all students.
Number and profile of participants: Three schools:
Jordens Skola, Norrtälje, Sweden
Woodland National School, Letterkenny, Ireland
Malms Skola, Pargas, Finland
Description of activities: Three teacher exchange visits – one in Sweden, one in Finland and one in Ireland. Each time five teachers from two countries visits the third. Each country has a program for activities where teachers will be able to visit lessons and classrooms and meet up with teachers to discuss teaching strategies.
Methodology to be used in carrying out the project: Teachers will discuss different cases and situations, teaching strategies and learn from each other. They will use best practices observed in partners school and implement in their own school.
Description of the results and impact envisaged: In the project we will develop teacher’s toolkit of activities and teaching strategies. Teachers will be able to learn from each other and see good example from teachers practice.
The potential long term benefits: That all students, regardless of the level of knowledge, should receive the help and challenge they need to develop further. And that teachers can learn from each other and become even more proficient in teaching. Our main goal is to develop teaching so that it is more rewarding and beneficial for all students.
