Project Summary

Traditional and cultural values are ignored by today’s generation and the young face cultural degeneration. The aim of the project is to help young people be more aware of the cultural prosperity and their own identity and characteristics, transferring them to the following generations, since those who have no awareness or value of their own heritage can hardly have bright future. ”JOURNEY ‘’ brings together 6 schools from Finland , France, Spain, Italy, Latvia and Turkey to help young people become more aware of their cultural prosperity, their own identity and characteristics, embedding this knowledge into future generations.
The partners in this project have expressed a need to promote cultural heritage not just in their schools but at a local, regional and national level through the Erasmus+ programme. By creating a wider network of teachers and students , the project will further the participants understanding of their own heritage while at the same time shaping and forging a common European identity through the realisation of the similarities between neighbouring countries and embracing their cultural differences.
This project involves students 13- 17 years old, of various levels of language competencies and backgrounds in each partner organisation and will establish project teams who will run the implementation activities. All partner organisations, have as part of their mission, the aim of promoting the social inclusion of all students. We will make our project available to all students, especially for those who face different types of difficulties in their lives, e.g economic, social or educational obstacles.
During the project’s life cycle, young people will become searchers, analysts, writers, video makers, journalists…etc They will search and learn about their cultural heritage both tangible and intangible, share information with their peers from other countries, create e-magazines, discovery programmes, tourist guides, brochures and a mobile app created by the participants and available to the public during and after the project has ended. The project will raise awareness about the cultural prosperity in their communities and in those of their peers. The students will develop new skills such as social responsibility, communication, problem-solving, initiative, creativity, planning, teamwork, flexibility, tolerance and acceptance towards different cultures.
Teachers will learn about the cultures and lifestyles of their colleagues in Europe and immerse themselves in interculturalism. Implementation of new pedagogical strategies and the use of new teaching materials acquired during the project will lead to changes in the curriculum, introducing an optional school curriculum that will be based on the ideas implemented in this project. The educational value of the particular topic can be primarily pinpointed on the implementation of an inter-curricular approach with the connection of various subjects such as Literature, History, Art, ICT, English in the realisation of the various tasks.
Schools participating in the project will establish relations between the leadership of their assets in order to achieve the project activities and the exchange of experience and managerial solutions.
We will create the following outcomes as results fo our Project : Booklets: 2 booklets: 1. CULTURAL HERITAGES IN EUROPE 2. EDUCATION OF CULTURAL HERİTAGES / Brochures – 3 brochures: 1 – Cultural Heritages under risk -reasons 2 – How to preserve Cultural heritage 3. Tourist guides , 3 tourist guides per country . – A WEBSITE – where all activities, results will be uploded. All project activities will continue after the EU funding has ended. The educative/informative brochures and the portfolio of lesson plans about the education of cultural heritage will be used for guiding, educating, comparing and launching further research by many generations of students.
At an international level, we will have the opportunity to introduce the uniqueness of each partner’s traditions and culture to our partner countries. The project will trace the influence of learning about cultures on students, channeled in a positive way. The value will be building a lasting partnership with the other participating organisations, development of transnational cooperation and future implementation of intercultural dialogue and exchange of best practices.
Through the dissemination activities, the information mechanism will surely provide the achievement of the set goals and motivate other organisations and institutions to use the experience of all schools to conduct campaigns for understanding and tolerance.
After the end of the project the management teams of the partner organisations will share their experiences and help other schools to implement various initiatives aimed at educational integration of children and pupils from all countries and all ages.
