Project Summary

74 years ago the greatest war in the history of mankind finished. Even if the consequences were many and devastating and mass deportations and forced labor have been perpetuated in the collective subconscious, even today, different groups continue to suffer discrimination because of their ideas, races, sexual orientations, religion, etc. The Constitutions of the States contemplate the principle of non-discrimination and the European Union itself recognizes that it is “based on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights” (Art. 2, EU Treaty). There have been important changes, but if we analyze the situation more in depth there is still a lot to do. Every day we witness situations of intolerance towards diversity, discriminations, discourses that promote hatred and racism, the rise of nationalisms, etc., even by politicians and decision-makers.
Fortunately, in all times, in situations of conflict, intellectuals and artists have seen the creative opportunity to promote the transformation of reality, in support of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, mutual respect, defense of human rights, etc.

This proyect ” InclusionArt ” is a strategic partnership in the field of youth lasting 14 months, starting on 20th January 2020 and ending on 19th March 2021, whose main aim is to raise awareness of the importance of fighting against inequalities and discriminations to build a more egalitarian, tolerant, supportive and fair society, using urban art as a socio-educational tool.

The project is coordinated by Iniciativa Internacional Joven (Spain) and it has partners from Spain, France, Italy and Portugal.

The main objectives of the project are:
-To improve the key competences of participants and urban artists so they can develop actions that contribute to the inclusion and the fight against discrimination in order to socially transform their communities;
-To generate a space for reflection among youth workers and urban artists on parameters, behaviors and attitudes that are based on discrimination;
-To exchange experiences, good practices and develop new educational tools among organizations and professionals from four countries to work on inclusion and fighting against discrimination through urban art;
-To promote a higher quality of youth work, with special emphasis on young people with fewer opportunities, promoting the internationalization of work in these areas;
-To create an international network of organizations that work with urban art as a tool for social transformation, inclusion, equality and comprehensive development, in order to promote cooperation and the exchange of good practices among the Programme Countries.

The main activities of the project are:
-Transnational meeting of coordination in Lisbon (Portugal) to specify strategies, working methodologies and the details of the following activities (partner agreement, evaluation tools, monitoring, visibility activities, …).
-Local activities I: diagnosis and analysis of the situation, meeting with artists and institutions, identification of good practices, definition of specific learning needs.
-International Training in Malaga (Spain): a 6 days training about about respect to diversity, inclusion and urban art.
-Local activities II: training workshops at local level, realization of artistic creations and meeting of coexistence;
-Activities for the dissemination of products and outputs: eBook, video and artistic creations.
-Final Event in Fort de France (Martinique/France) for the presentation of project outputs and outcomes, a public event for local population and a final evaluation among partner organizations.

This project will have an important impact, as well in participants (new acquired and/or improved competences, professional and personal development, etc.) as in the organizations (use of new competences and tools, exchange of good practices, better quality of the work, etc.), and also in the society in general (greater awareness of the situation at risk of social exclusion, wider interest towards urban art, etc).
