Project Summary

According to The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) ending hunger and poverty while using precious natural resources have to be sustainable. For fisheries and aquaculture, this means maximising the sector’s contribution to food security and nutrition, ensuring that all people have access to good-quality, nutritious food, while simultaneously supporting vibrant fisheries communities. The GastroFish project objectives are to (i) build a reliable source for guideline about fishery sector and employment opportunities of youth population in the project region (Turkey,Greece, Italy, Spain) (ii) establish a gastro-kitchen guide of fishery and training module that will be formed by making the situation and analyses related to the existing rural fisheries sector in Mediterranean region (iii) create an international network by organizing visual documentation and online networking guide of Fishery in EU. (iv) create the “Online Training and Certification Module for the Acquisition of Marketing Techniques” using the technology of youth engaged in fishing. For these purposes, The researchers, academicians and all stakeholders will come together to reach the goals. The results and impact envisaged will be in local, national, EU and global for the fishery sector. The GastroFish project aims to promote, engage, connect and empower young people in the fishery and gastro-kitchen sector by digital learning activities. The GastroFish project also will stimulate the strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation, allowing for greater synergies across fishery-information technology-gastro with a special focus on access to participation –including e-participation– and the notably those at risk of social exclusion. The GastroFish project will broaden and deepen the political and social participation of youth at the local, regional, national, European and global level of the fishery sector. It will also foster volunteering among young people in the fishery and gastro sector while increasing socio-economical inclusion and taking into account the underlying European values. In terms of promoting diversity, intercultural as well as social and economic rights the GastrpFish project will enhance critical thinking and media literacy among young people to strengthen a sense of initiative, notably in the fishery and gastro-kitchen field. The project also will promote entrepreneurship education, social entrepreneurship and not-for-profit activities among young people. GastroFish will also support transnational youth initiatives that allow groups of young people to put ideas into practice, including through social enterprises, tackling challenges and identified problems of youth in the field of fishery and gastronomy. The GastroFish project will promote youth entrepreneurship education, youth social entrepreneurship by digital e-learning and e-trading information technologies and not-for-profit activities among young people. The new youth networks and transnational initiatives that allow young people to put ideas into practice, including through social enterprises, tackling challenges and identified problems in the fishery and gastronomy sector.
