Project Summary

PEACE : Proposal for an Energy Autonomous Car Eco-design

Three high schools will take part in this project; namely a French, a Spanish and an Italian high school. The project will be led by pupils who attend 2nd year (4 of the ESO in Spain) in technology and digital courses.
The project will last 2 years and will involve two classes a year for France (1st and 2nd: 50 pupils), a class for Spain ( 24 pupils) and a mixed group ( 24 pupils) for Italy.
Groups of transnational pupils will work together to answer several questions:
– How to design a human city which adapts to any kind of situation
– What is necessary to create renewable transport useful for anybody (children, elderly people, disabled….)
– whether we can produce some renewable electrical energy
– whether it is possible to combine comfort with energy saving
– whether we can connect history and digital technology

In order to achieve the above purposes, the groups will develop a ground means of transport with green energy. They will also have to create a model of open city to all with its renewable electrical energy supply, with the collaboration of the students who attend the technology course. They will also propose energy-saving measures without modifying the comfort of the inhabitants and will implement them and test them.
Each group will work on the presentation of a monument of their city with a movie combining virtual reality with increased reality. This movie will be shown on a typical screen of information which will be presented along with the model of the city.
The whole collaborative work will be made in project mode and in English.
We shall have 9 mobilities centred on precise objectives:
– Mobility 1 In Spain: design of the clean ground transport, the choice of the logo of the project and the choice of the monument to be presented. Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied
– Mobility 2 in Italy: assembly and programming of the vehicle, the creation of the movie with the increased reality.Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied
– Mobility 3 in France: test on the model of the city, of the means of transport and the presentation of movies, challenge between the groups. Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied
– Mobility 4 In Spain: design of the clean sea means of transport, the search for solutions to produce some renewable electrical energy. Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied
– Mobility 5 in Italy: Assembly and programming of the vehicle, the test of the solutions of production of the electricity and the choice for the model. Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied
– Mobility 6 in France: test on the model of the city, of the transport and the presentation of the solutions of electric power production, challenge between the groups. Visit of the sites where the students can learn about the the themes studied

Throughout the years, students from each country will use Skype or WhatsApp. The goal of the mobilities will be to brainstorm solutions and make choices. Each country will have to enrich the group with its peculiarities to come to the best solutions.
Students will be able to enhance their English by communicating in groups and producing materials in that language.
We also want to develop their digital skills (virtual reality and programming).
This project should enable them to innovate in the fields of ECO-design and energy management. Their work in project mode will develop their autonomy and give meaning to school learning in order to help them in their orientation and motivation.
