Project Summary
The project Searching for the lost past aimed to commemorate common past of the former Czechoslovak Republic. The past that is Unknown – lost for the present generation of children.
Children in the Czech or Slovak Repulic are aware of the common past only from books or textbooks. Missing information and disinformation is becoming deeper and language barrier is becoming bigger. On the other hand, a very good relationship between the two nations still exists.
This project wanted to follow up the positive relationship, teachers wanted to show to their pupils the past that was lost after dividing the former Czechoslovak state. We wanted to show that we are still like brothers and sisters we used to be. Brothers and sisters who supported and support one another and who take care of their parents and grandparents.
Children and teachers went back on their expeditions to the past – they travelled to chosen places, studied interesting facts, tasted typical meals, searched for 10 most important historical personalities of both countries.
Children got to know their former common fatherland, that was built by their greatgrandparents. They looked for differencies and similarities in lives of the two nations.
About 30 pupils at the age between 10 to 15 were engaged from Prešov, more than 55 students from Prague, school management and pedagogical staff secured methodological leading, non pedagogical staff worked with financial part
Project activities developed pupils´ competences in several areas – technologies, media, social and personal education, creativity. intercultural realationship, it contributed to competences of national awareness, civic education, including European national awareness and it also focused on Europe´s cultural heritage.
Children worked on various types of outputs – a video, photographs, paintings, they wrote a travellerś diary , a short biographical story, they made a presentation.
Outputs of the project – exhibitions , bulletin, paintings, photographs, worksheets will be accessible forother schools in both countries.
The project promoted partnership between the two institutions, sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues from different countries.
