Project Summary
Our project has begun with the link between two secondary schools, one in France, in Annecy-le Vieux, a town in Haute-Savoie and the other in Racconigi, an Italian town in the province of Cuneo in the region of Piedmont.
It is the fulfilment of three years of correspondence, mostly by letter, between the French pupils and their Italian pen pals. It concerns 44 French and Italian secondary school pupils who will begin their third year of study of Italian and French.Our participants are between the ages of 13 and 14, and during this age suitable to the building of personality, it is important to confront them with others so that, beyond the differences of habits, of ways of lives, they become aware of what can bring them closer to each other. It is, of course, a matter of developing a constructive individual and collective reflection, understanding the importance of being involved and taking part in a project with all the consequences it brings in terms of speech, sharing knowledge, expressing and exchanging opinions.That is why we have chosen to call our project “A shared history for Future European citizens “.
The training of future citizens allows for a better knowledge of ourselves, of the world in which we live and of others, but also allows us to deepen the sharing of our practices as teachers through the development of common projects, which take into account the advantages provided by our two geographical situations. Indeed, our collaboration is part of a common historical past. We have a common richness that can be seen in our architectural, gastronomic and musical heritage, all of which can include linguistic work but also meetings and exchanges on our two territories. It is with this objective in mind that we have chosen to focus this meeting on two main aspects: the history ,on the one hand ,with the visits of the towns ofTurin and Chambéry and the cinema, on the other, with the visit of the Museum of Cinema in Lyon. On top of that, we have planned to participate in the Italian Cinema Festival of Annecy.
From these main lines will arise the possibility of working in collaboration with teachers of history-geography o technology teacher but also of being concerned with keeping in mind to mutualize the work. The goal is to bring consistency to learning and to create emulation. It is up to us to make people want to learn, to make them understand that they are learning not only to communicate, but also to discover, to open up to others and to share.The work will begin the year before the two planned meetings to better prepare the visits and ensure that the students can themselves be guides in their own city. It will continue during meetings with questionnaires to be filled out by Franco-Italian pairs , for example to see the differences between the two school systems or the differences in food modes.
The expected impacts are multiple:
– An enrichment of professional practices, particularly through dialogues between teachers, but also through the discovery and use of the many digital tools available.
– A strengthening of the link between the various participants and stakeholders in the exchanges;
– A vibrancy of the school subjects (French and Italian) within the two schools.
This first experience will represent the basis on which to lay the foundations and milestones for future meetings, taking into account what has been achieved, the results carried out through the various returns/feedbacks contemplated and, of course, the improvements to be considered. It will be a matter of making the most of the opportunities and future prospects that will undoubtedly punctuate this adventure and pursue it, with a continually renewed public, and we hope an increasing number of participants.
