Project Summary

Our compulsory secondary school, Institut El Cairat, in Esparreguera, Spain has an identity project that started more than 15 years ago called “Gusto y Pasión por Investigar” (Passion for Investigation), based on the creation of little reserach projects made by our students and tutorized by a group of teachers. This project has recently been awarded with its recognition as Innovative Project by the Generalitat, Government of Catalonia. The research works created until now have participated in different contests and national forums. The group of teachers that promotoes this project have also been founders of symposiums at national level.

The high school has seen the need to internationalize this project. This academic year we have initiated the training of teachers through 2 job-shadowings and a CLIL course thanks to an Erasmus+ K1 grant. The next natural stage was to transfer this European point of view to our students with this Erasmus+ K229 grant “Let’s Share our Investigation Projects with Europe” the main idea of which is to exchange with our European partners ways of organizing, monitoring and exhibiting investigation projects made by our students in Compulsory and Non-Compulsory Secondary School.
The teachers that will accompany our students in the mobilities will also have the opportunity to get to know other investigation methodologies to follow up and exhibit the resulting scientific works.

We, thus, understand as backbone of our project the ability to generate innovative methodologies in this digital era, to improve the quality of the projects made using the scientific method, empower their creators, our students, as well as to use the ICTs as means of information research and creation and dissemination of knowledge.

The project not only benefits students and teachers attending the mobilities, but also all the education community, since they all will be able to attend the exhibition of the scientific projects and workships when their high school is the home of the displayed activities. In this European grant we will publish all the research projects, results and good-pratice handbook both on the Etwinning platform and on the webpage of each school so that the progress of the project can be opened to a wider public.

Given the diverse country of origin of our partners, we have decided that English will be the working language to be used in the exhibition of the research projects and in the workshops. With this decision, we will be increasing the use and improving the competence in this foreign language as an everyday mean of oral expression and writing.

The partnership is composed by 4 high schools. The coordinator is the inspirational source of the project and assumes the impulse to carry it out. In each mobility, exhibitions of investigation projects made by students will be held and also workshops about more specialized topics different in each high school. Alborada school, in Galicia, Spain has cooperated in previous national projects with us and has the experiene required in the creation of forums or symposiums of investigation projects. For this reason, when they are home to a mobility, the aim is to establish a protocol for the creation of scientific fairs and their internationalization. When our high school, El Cairat, in Esparreguera, Spain is home to a mobility, we will concentrate on creating the optimal group dynamics that improve the process of creation of research projects. The school Agrupamento de Escolas Cidade do Entroncamento, in Portugal, has participated in different international science fairs. When we all visit them during the mobility, they will organize activities to promote the use of ICTs in all the creative process. The school Staatliches Berufliches Stadtzentrum in Lindau, Germany has aldo got experience in the diffusion of little research projects. As receiving party, they will organize activities to create a rubric for the analysis and evaluation of oral presentations.

The expected results are, on the one hand, to create a space for the exhibition of the projects made by our students, for the debate amongst the group of teachers and students at all levels to improve the process of creation. The resulting product will be published for all the education community to listen to it or read it via different media (Etwinning, webs, radio, magazines, teaching staff meetings, department meetings, etc), and also be integrated as part of the specific syllabus in every high school as a good-practice guideline.
