The main assumption of the “Let’s Educate People, Change the World” project is to develop language skills among students and teachers, and to broaden teachers’ knowledge of new working methods and innovative solutions, so as to contribute to improving the quality of school work and educational offerings, and to improve learning English. The project will involve 180 primary school pupils from Poland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Slovenia aged 10 -14 and 60 teachers from these institutions. It will also cover the entire school community and the local environment.
The specific objectives of the project include:
– improving the teaching and learning of languages and promoting broad linguistic diversity and intercultural awareness,
– reducing the differences in the availability and use of digital technology and its use in teaching foreign languages,
– improving the quality of school work through professional development of teachers and exchange of pedagogical experience,
– preparing children to live in the world around them and to make the right choices related to future education and work,
– promoting lifelong learning,
– sensitizing children to the needs of other people,
– making children aware of the problem of discrimination in various spheres of life,
– overcoming prejudices and stereotypes prevailing in a given country,
– shaping attitudes of empathy towards people with disabilities, different cultures, religions, gender and social status.
Bearing in mind the diagnosed needs of schools participating in the project, planning all project activities we focused on achieving the main goal, which is to promote a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning languages.
Achievement of the above goals will take place through the implementation of project activities on the e-Twinning platform, the School Education Gateway portal, performing tasks during trainings, workshops, open classes, trips, competitions, festivals and through the preparation of materials, ceremonies, presentations during foreign training trips as well as during local activities carried out in each partner country. The project will be implemented mainly during additional classes provided for in the project schedule and if necessary during the course (open lessons, trainings, workshops). One of the important results of the project will be the improvement of teachers ‘work by implementing new methods and solutions for their work, which will allow for better assimilation of students’ knowledge, increase their motivation to learn and improve the results of tests and external examinations. Schools will make greater use of modern technology and methods tested in other countries to work with weaker students who have difficulties in acquiring knowledge. Participation in foreign trainings and workshops will have a positive impact on both teachers and students. Students will deepen their knowledge about cultural diversity, develop their practical skills and key competences in a practical way. During project meetings, they will have the opportunity to present their talents, interests and language skills to international audiences. Students learn new possibilities of applying modern technologies in science. Teachers will enrich their work skills, exchange experiences and ideas, learn new, innovative methods and forms of work by observing classes conducted by other teachers, creating scenarios of classes, training in the use of modern technologies in language teaching. They will also develop their language competences using foreign languages in a practical way. Through work in the project, both students and teachers will develop their European awareness, get to know the culture and traditions of other countries, learn about other educational systems.
Schools after the end of the project will use the results of the project and continue the implementation of selected activities through:
– further supporting the development of students’ interests through participation in additional classes and interests,
– using teaching materials collected during the project during classes with children,
– incorporation of acquired skills and good practices into school work plans, educational and preventive programs, work plans of individual teachers,
– cooperation with partners and further exchange of experience via the eTwinning portal, School Education Gateway.
An important task for partner schools will be further development of language skills, IT skills as well as cultural awareness among students and teachers. Participation in the project will increase the motivation for lifelong learning, make the participants sensitive to social, linguistic and cultural diversity, and will overcome prejudices and barriers in overcoming difficulties. The experience gained will be helpful in the implementation of other projects.
