Project Summary

All participating schools have a shared focus on international relations as well as a profound interest and expertise in natural sciences, languages and liberal arts. This is the context in which we see the opportunity and the use of a joint project enforcing the strategies to access higher education and the labour market internationally. The variety of participants provide vast fields of expertise addressing challenges of high unemployment rates or international businesses. We intend to facilitate the knowledge and products regarding successful living, learning and working as well as carefully planning for a sustainable personal career by coping with the challenges of the future.
The transformations our world and life as we know it, is about to experience are more fundamental and paradigm changing than anything our generation has seen so far. In a globalized and digitalized world, Europe as well as every the individual is urged to find its path into the future in which professional life, value creation and the chances of being a part of society are not determined yet. While Life-long Learning prepares for the fact that we will have to learn and adapt for the rest of our life. – But in order to play an active role in the process of creating a new society, one has to know what is important for the individual, for a society worth living in and how the transition from a lifestyle that implies climate change, loss of social cohesion and inhumane living and working conditions for the sake of the profit of too few to a sustainable world in which human dignity does not depend on selling one‘s workforce anymore.
Therefore in our project we want to approach the question from the human factor. We want to find out how we, as human beings, are determined by our nature (meaning our surrounding environment as well as capacity of human beings as a species) to become, be and stay healthy, wholesome, happy and successful. We will investigate what we as individuals are able to achieve, how processes such as learning, working and living can be furthered and hindrances be overcome. And as a consequence an answer shall be given about what kind of society we require and wish to have for all of that.
Time in many respects – such as dealt with in chronobiology, as an era in history, signified by more or less desirable characteristics, and as lifestyle encompassing a wide span of aspects, such as personal identity, holding beliefs and engaging in activities – is a very suitable key to understanding a lot of these aspects.
Each step of our project will be containing all of the following components: Developing basic skills (such as language use, scientific research and presentation skills), using them to investigate topics, such as methods to improve oneself (e.g. learning techniques, time management and chonobiological implications) and knowledge (e.g. regarding populism, stereotypes and being a foreigner) to help students understand and overcome hindrances to accessing European further education and the European labour market. The gained expertise of those topics shall be used, the outcomes evaluated and if desirable effects are observed, the respective topics will be prepared and made available as part of a collection, the so-called ‘Erasmus suitcases’, containing gathered knowledge, methods as well as useful materials to be used by others, f. e., as part of our schools’ Europe-curriculum. Furthermore, each of the mobilities will contain a so-called Europe-section, which have their focus on experiencing aspects of the hosting county’s particular history, art, language, tradition and culture first-hand, enabling a direct approach and use of senses rather than book-learning, and encouraging mutual understanding and appreciation for Europe’s diversity and richness. These results will also be made available to be used also after the project as part of the schools’ Europe-curricula.
Learning about and experiencing the European dimensions in history, science, art, languages and everyday life will enable and encourage the development of European identity, a sense of belonging and shared values, tolerance regarding the life style of others and responsibility for the environment and cultures, but also firmness regarding threats to equal human rights, principles of peace, enlightenment and democracy.
